Just to point out, the first girl was the winner of the previous battle royale so yes, there were indeed ones prior to the events of the movie. The manga is a bit more clear in this. Not to mention Kawada had already competed and won so that’s at least 2 prior battle royales. In the one with Shuuya there was no winner to parade around, hence why the government felt embarrassed enough to start the hunt for Shuuya. The fact he became a domestic terrorist that made them feel more in the right in their twisted eyes.

The movie is great but I’d love to see a how to beat for the book because Kazuo is a totally different character to the movie, he’s infinitely more dangerous and it takes EVERYTHING to take him out. He goes down like a chump in the movie. In the book the BR isn’t televised, they just show a clip of the winner and list the manner of deaths. They actually tell the winners to smile.

In this case, while, technically, something crazy did happen, you definitely won't regret it being the one day you missed this time around. The Battle Royale is now known to students, (and everyone else for that matter), so as soon as you walked in and saw that your whole senior class was missing, you'd immediately know why they weren't there.

Good video but there are so many inaccuracies here. To answer the question at 17.30 (ish) in the novel and movie they only have coverage of the winner, so they know that Battle Royale is a thing but not necessarily the full details. It's only a reality show in the manga, where there are hidden cameras and the microphone feeds are broadcast. Kawada also wasn't just put into the game against his will. It's not explained that well in the movie, but he's a genius hacker who broke into the system to find a flaw in the collars and volunteered for the program specifically so he could help take it down by engineering a situation where multiple people escaped.

The only thing i disagree with is the use of mosquito alarms in UK because i live in England and i'm pretty sure it's illegal (or at the very least looked down upon as nowhere i've ever been uses them) on any public property due to the fact that it's indiscriminate.
