How to beat the Driver Tutorial Easily! (ps1)

The trickiest part about the tutorial is the reverse 180.
That was the part I was stuck on the longest. But you'll find it tgo be relatively simple if you reverse across 3/4 of the garage and *LET GO OF THE SQUARE BUTTON* as you turn hard Left or Right.
The 180 is easy just make sure to use your TRIANGLE BUTTON
For the 360 - Hold Both X and O together while turning in one direction.
SLALOM is that snaking between one row of pillars on each side and LAP is literally just that, do a big square lap around the outside of all the pillars.
Everything else should be pretty straightforward. Unfortunately, this is most difficult part of the entire game and isn't very enjoyable. But the hard work does pay off, as Driver is a classic for the Playstation 1.

Most people call this a tutorial but it's actually an initial test. The actual tutorial is in a Training Mode in the main menu, which includes a ghost car to follow in the car park.

the killer is this is a throwback to the main inspiration for the game, complete with the sound, the Driver 1976, and the parking garage interview scene, which is where 90% of the inspiration for the game comes from right down to the guy on the answering machine messages calling you cowboy.

I think the problem I always had was trying to remember that triangle was the handbrake button, I always hit the circle button.

This tutorial is the reason why the Driver series is underrated to this day. It definitely deserves a lot of respect while GTA gained numerous fans when GTA 6 dropped. _We definitely need a Driver remake, but Ubisoft would ruin it._ 😔

On the reverse just make sure you’re up to speed and let go of the square button as you do it. It took me a few hundred tries myself.

How do u do the burnout

Hold both the X & O buttons together while gripping the wheel in one direction. You can get the burnout while you do the 360. Good luck!

Edit: my god. I realised this was because I missed the triangle button when configuring the emulator and had no handbrake lol I can do everythjng easily but havent been able to get a single "180" or "handbrake". Obviously I am using handbrake a lot for all these maneuvers and I'm doing all kinds of 180s but the game isn’t counting it. Anyone got any advice?

The 180 is so buggy. My advice is to hit the handbrake hard and then floor it half way through your turn.

you have to get a lot of good speed and slam on the parking brake (triangle) as you turn. Make sure to let go of the brake about halfway through the turn and your nback end should whip around.

We had disk exchanges. You could pay a little bit and change the CD to another in the box. I consider the day I returned Driver the second birthday of my life. As I didn't finish this friends would pester to play it in the free mode... where you can't lose cops, ever. And they ram you to death if you get slight speedup or go wrong lane.
