As a beginner I always tap along with the cue button before hitting play. I thought it was a bad habit so glad to know its a proper Technique

Or count the beats in your head then just play once instead of hammering the cue and wearing it out

How many beginners do you know who're aware of beats, bars etc? Come on man, there're different ways to skin a cat and what buddy is teaching is just one of them, an easier way for beginners to learn. I know so many "experienced" djs who still have no clue what beats and bars are but will perfectly beat match using snares, drums, vocals and what have you.

First time dj tips: If you use a dif track make sure the bpm is the same and then beatmatch

​@Braun Strowman use sync. Master deck 1 and sync button on for deck 2. That way you can control two Tempos at the same time.

That was called cheating in my day. You match them by ear. Shits so easy today anyone can it. It ruins it for me. I guess u have to be good with loops n fx, etc, now to be classed as skilled

Don’t want to sound pretentious but I never do that thing, I just hit the play button and I’m always on point with timing. Actually if I tap press the Cue button sometimes I do it wrong. Maybe because I’m a drummer and can hear the timing better than most DJs don’t know.

This set cue at beginning does not work for 90% of R&B. Set a permanent cue at the first beat of the first bar of the most recognizable part of the song.

You got it easy too bro. Try mixing vinyl and ride the pitch, meaning no touch the record once you set it off.

I really don't get why so many people have such a big problem with beatmatching... But I played guitar and also spent a lot of time in general with listening to music before DJing so maybe that's why I learnt it in the first week or so of DJing

It's one way to phase match actually. Some do it as a quick way. Phil is a nice dude and does know some stuff but his transitions aren't as good as the top youtube guys, but he definitely knows his stuff.
