Thankyou Silverstream Learning. Hi Zohra, the BCMP programme is designed as an intergrated curriculum. This means that theory and practice are continuosly intertwined. There are no independant modules in first year so students would not be able to seek for accreditation in order to branch into another programme. They would need to apply for the other programme as per usual and start in first year upon acceptance.

Good day Amanda, thank you for watching the video, I will forward your question to Aviwe, but generally universities do have recognition of prior learning (RPL) processes in place for instances such as what you have described. It assumes that the curriculum between the two universities are similar though. I would suggest that you make contact with Wits to clarify. The requirements for the programme are as follows: English Home Language OR First Additional Language Level 4 Mathematics Level 4 OR Maths Literacy Level 7 Life Sciences AND/OR Physical Science Level 4 The Faculty of Health Sciences uses a composite index score to guide applicant selection. This includes: 1) Your matric academic results for five subjects: English, Mathematics, Maths Literacy, Physical Science/Life Sciences and the best two other subjects. We consider the percentage achieved, not the symbol. 2) National Benchmark Test (NBT) scores.

No. They are not referred to as Dr. But sometimes patients will call them as that, but fellow colleagues don't. And as Clinical Associates, we know we are not Dr.

Thankyou Silverstream Learning. Hi Bulelwa, the transition is not possible within the internal academic structures. The student would need to utilize the usual methods of applying for a programme and apply afresh for MBCHB. The BCMP programme is designed as an intergrated curriculum. This means that theory and practice are continuosly intertwined. There are no independant modules in first year BCMP so students would not be able to seek for accreditation in order to branch into another programme after the first year of the programme. They would need to apply for MBCHB programme as per usual at any point suitable to the student and start MBCHB first year upon acceptance.

If you are specifically talking about Wits university then, yes, you'll have to finish the degree then apply for 3rd year medicine (GEMP program) after passing an exam that is basically the 1st 2 years of medicine. Last time I checked Wits only takes people fresh out of high school for 1st year medicine. But it wouldn't hurt to apply for 1st year with excellent marks and see what happens. Alternatively you can apply for 1st year medicine at any other university in South Africa. China and Colombia might be worth trying too.
