Hi, great video. I have 2 questions. 1) I see where you keep saying mail the documents but we have to create register online. If we are to mail the documents why do we have to reguster online? Also do we collect the univeristy prepared documents and mail them ourselves or theyre to be mailed from the university itself? 2) In my country an internship wasnt required so i went right into private practice after finishing school. Will i be turned down if i dont have the internship completion to submit? (Only been practicing a year) Looking forward to hearing from you
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 күн бұрын
Hello doctor, here are the responses to your questions: 1.) The online registration is so that we can achieve a NDEB ID number and the payment of the fees will all be done online as well. The documents being submitted via mail is a personal perspective on the method of document delivery. However, people have used the electronic submission method in the past. I just feel more comfortable doing it via mail. Therefore, I recommended a route that I had taken and worked for me. The university must seal, stamp and mail their own documents and we are unfortunately not allowed to be involved in that document trail between your university and NDEB. 2.) There are universities that have not required internships and NDEB's website unfortunately does not specify in what to do in that case generically. However, the best guidance in that case is on the NDEB's website, when you click on equivalency process document requirements, they have a drop down menu for the country of our education. Therefore, once you click on your country, the required documents should be curated for your country specifically. Also, if that method is not giving you a good result on how to proceed, then emailing NDEB is the second best option about this case. They are good as responding to queries. PS: you can also share with me your country of dental education and that way I can also check for you. That is if you are comfortable sharing with us your country of education. Hopefully this was helpful. Please reach out to us if you need us and you can also contact us on our Business WhatsApp at +17802432726. This is where most our viewers say in touch with us for a more prompt response from our team and for a continued conversation.

Thank you for the amazing explanation. I have 3 questions if you can kindly answer. I’ll graduate from dental school ( university ) in June I’m from Iraq. So it is not possible for me to choose the second option which is the degree completion program unless I somehow become a permanent resident of Canada or I can apply through a student visa ? I’m not quite confident to pass in the first option as a soon newly graduate. My second question is does the fact that I’ll be a newly graduate without post graduation experience ( the only experience I have on real patients is in my 4th and 5th year of dental school in my university clinic ) affect my chances in application ? Is there a certain period of experience required post graduation ?
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory Жыл бұрын
Hello doctor! Firstly, congratulations on your achievements in dentistry! To answer your questions: 1.) to be able to attend the degree completion program after AFK exam, we must be a PR or a Citizen to apply to. And AFK scores are asked to be competitive. And student visa are not accepted for the DDS advanced placement degree. 2.) Many newly graduate dentists are able to pass the NDEB licensing process doctor, do the doubt your caliber. And The lack of clinical experience is not a concern. It is definitely not a requirement for attaining dentistry in Canada through NDEB (exam or degree route) 3.) no post graduation experience is required doctor. They just need to see you complete a dental degree back home with sustaining marks and a good standing letter from your regional dental board back home. Hope these help doc!

Notarized photocopy of one of the listed government issued photo identifications. 3.) Notarized photocopy of proof of name change or original sworn affidavit for difference in name, if the name that appears on any document is different than the name on your government issued photo identification. 4.) A good quality notarized colour photocopy of the front and back of your final Degree (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) in English. Provisional certificates will not be accepted. 5.) Notarized photocopy of internship completion certificate issued in English which bears the start and end dates of the internship. Not required for graduates before 1989. These are all the documents sent by mail by the applicant themselves and there are other documents that the university and/or the licensing body must also send.

Sir Thank you so much for the video! From what I understand, if i take the road of exem route(AFK, ACJ, NDECC) the academic record of dental college in Equivalency process is not considered? Only the scores of 5 exams need to be taken is necessary? :)
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
Very welcome doctor! You’re on the right track to that concept. So, for exam purpose your BDS is not considered consistently but you do need the BDS marks and all for step one which is the document verification and equivalency application. But after that AFK ACJ NDECC is all apart from BDS. This is the beauty of it. You would definitely need the marks if you wish to go for degree completion. You got it!

Hello doctor, sure let’s clarify the doubts: 1.) internship is refereeing to the 5th of dental degree we attend when we are studying dental back home. After completion universities usually give us a document called “internship completion certificate” 2.) yes all documents are provided in english or I do believe a translated notarized copy may also be accepted. (i would recommend emailing NDEB for the clarification of this point) 3.) the documents shall be mailed to the NDEB office itself for the most recommended method by me. I believe physically sent documents are more secure (that is my personal opinion).

Sir how does BACKLOGS in UNIVERSITY EXAM during BDS , affect the process of DEGREE COMPLETION or exam route in CANADA
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
So if your university back home has backlogs, the degree completion will take longer because in order to get NDEB’s approval, we must have the BDS degree in hand and the university must be able to send the “degree completion form” to NDEB on your behalf. Having the physical degree is a mandate for the application of NDEB.

Oh I deeply apologise for misunderstanding your question doctor. Yes, it can affect your application strength as the Canadian University you apply to will evaluate your BDS grades and transcripts thoroughly. However we must keep the positive perspective in mind that grade are one of the few factors that the admission committee will evaluate. One of the strongest components would be the IELTS score, and also the SOP we write. Along with that the performance at the university entrance exams are also considered.

Hello Sir! Thanks for explaining about this process in depth. I’m in Canada on Student visa doing my 2 years course and I’m now ready to register for my NDEB. However, I still have some questions which are causing confusion before starting the process. I would be grateful if you could answer them. 1. My first step is to review the documents and collect all of them or to first make the NDEB online portal. And creating the portal doesn’t need submission of any documents, right? 2. Once I make the portal which costs me $900, is there a deadline for me to submit the required documents? If I’m not able to submit all documents at once will the portal expire after any specific time frame? 3. The transcripts that are required to be sent by my university are the original mark sheets for all my BDS years? As all my original mark sheets are with me, will the university be required to get them printed again, to send it to NDEB? Sorry for the long questions but I really want to be sure before I proceed with my application.
@TheToothFactory

Hello doctor, do not apologise for your questions we always appreciate ambitious health care workers especially our own dentists. You’re doing an amazing job and we are proud to serve you. To answer your questions: 1.) yes the process to make an NDEB portal is correct as you mentioned it and there is nothing really needed to do so in documents at least there isn’t anything needed other than your personal contact information and photo. 2.) there is no deadline which would expire your attempt to make a NDEB account and then upload documents you are safe on that aspect. 3.) yes the university must recreate and print a new set of “transcripts” not marksheets make sure they know that since if it is marksheets only, it may cause delays due to incorrect uploads. Also make sure this following fact: when universities post your transcripts they must do it themselves, you do not do it by yourself, also the seals at the back of the envelop must be well aligned when the documents are posted. This one little issue has caused many delays for many people so be careful there. And shoot your questions at us do not worry about the lengths we are here for you.

@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 10 ай бұрын
Yes doctor the NDECC is difficult to clear because we must pass each exercise in the clinical component in that same attempt. There are 7 exercises asked during the 8 hour exam. All 7 must be passed to pass the exam. Otherwise we shall return for a reattempt which costs money as well as time of up to 6 months. And of course the time, effort and money we spend training our selves again. So is it difficult? The exam itself is a matter of preparation however the process is emotionally and mentally draining. Is it possible? Absolutely! When we see such results we tend to seek the worst outcome in our minds but we need to think optimistically that with proper training and dedication, we can be part of that 16% passing rate. ☺️

@@TheToothFactory so now my conclusion and a take on this is that it's better to put 100% effort on afk exam and clear it with a high score and get into the university route as that route is more predictable and straight.
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 10 ай бұрын
So even that has a twist now and we will be making an information video on that soon. The Canadian universities offering dental education have pulled back from AFK as the entry exam and are now accepting ADAT as the exam of choice for admissions. Therefore, most international dentists tend to do both AFK and ADAT for Canadian dentistry. AFK will lead us to ACJ followed by NDECC and then license while ADAT will allow us to apply to Canadian Universities for DDS programs.

Later you would make NDEB portal to allow you for submission of the collected documents and then we wait for 6-8 months to be approved of our profile as foreign trained dentist who is now able to take the first AFK exam. ADAT stands for Advanced Dental Admissions Test. It is an American exam formation which is now accepted in Canada for IDPP admissions to 3 of the 7 available dental institutions such as University of Toronto, McGill University and most recently, University of Saskatchewan. If the trend keeps us then more of the Canadian Universities will accept ADAT instead of AFK. What is 75 rescaled marks ?can you elaborate please sir
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
So the marking is a little tricky as it is it percentage. What happens is every cycle the examiners determine a minimum score that will represent the passing score for that cycle and then what our scores will come out will get recalculated to match the new minimum score. So consider this: If the test was really difficult and the examiners determined that this year the lowest score was 40% on the test, then 40% becomes the passing score. Now, we know that 75 marks is the passing score of AFK. So if you had gotten a 48% questions correctly then you would still pass at 77 rescaled. If you got 40% questions right then you would get 75 on the test and pass however if you got 60% of questions right, then you may have gotten 95 rescaled. Another way to look at the rescaling is the highest percentage of the batch becomes 100 even if that cycle the highest percentage received was 80% then that 80% becomes 100 rescaled mark. So 75 rescaled mark would be 60%. Meaning to pass that cycle’s AFK we would need to have 60% questions correctly.
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
I know the rescaling is a little confusing however ultimately our goal during the exam should be to achieve 75% of the questions right. This way even if someone (rarely) got a 100% correct, then we would pass regardless of the rescale. So there are two papers in the exam then we should aim to get 115 questions correct out of 150 questions in each paper. This mean for a margin of error we have 35 questions that we can merely afford to get incorrect per paper.

Hello, so it is important to understand the process of becoming a dentist in Canada from scratch. It requires a general bachelor of science undergraduate degree in Canada then apply to DAT exam which is the entrance exam for dental schools in Canada. Once you pass, then you apply to Dental Schools. Then there is a 4 year degree program of DDS after which there is a license exam to gain the practicing license to dentistry. This is how you can become a dentist in Canada. Another route you can attempt is doing BDS in India for 5 years and then coming to Canada as an Indian Dentist and applying through direct licensing process for dentistry through the NDEB exams. Eventually you will get a license to practice. Hope these two routes help!

You can apply to confederation however the competition is high so if it is a question of eligibility then yes you are absolutely eligible but beating the competition is also important.

all over the world, different boards cover dentistry in different geographic locations. So you would have to appear for those boards anyways but it would be safe to say that Canada’s license in dentistry is highly regarded so in about 95 countries the license is valid for us to appear directly before the boards and not restudy the degree.

Hello doctor, surely. When you say you wish to work in Canada, do you mean you want to come to Canada study and work and get a PR? Or are you looking into direct PR and then work? Or are we considering only work permit?

@@TheToothFactory sir i am planning to come to Canada and work Sir can you please tell wt r the procedure for this Thank you

@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
So in order for you to come to Canada and work as a dentist you must be able to clear the NDEB procedure for the dental license and you must also hold a valid work permit or PR. A direct work permit is generally not offered and therefore majority of the population tries to achieve a PR and then a NDEB license. Due to your circumstances, I believe trying for direct PR express entry or a student visa route is apt. However directly entry has a lot of requirements which are calculated into a points score. If that points score is not met, the eligibility for direct PR expires. Other than that student visa route which leads to PR is more predictable and many dentists from international basis use this route. Later on after PR they begin the NDEB route.

Hey doctor Is it compulsory that we need to attend coaching or training or course to clear afk, acj, ndecc.... Or Can we clear ndeb exams on our own study
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory Жыл бұрын
Generally, how I like to explain this scenario is that AFK is a 10 to 12 month training process in which the first 4-6 months should be us personally learning at home by ourselves just testing the waters and its depth and then when we feel comfortable with the material, the content of the AFK exam, then a targeted course will be most beneficial. But do I believe we must go. a class? yes, I really do feel these coaching classes do benefit immensely.

Helo sir, thanks a lot for making such informational video to understand the process of becoming a dentist in Canda . i am a dentist in India and got visa for may 2023.I would like to practice as a dentist in Canada.I have few question to get started with the process.I would be pleased if u could clear that. 1.Is it possible to start the INDEB registeration and crdential evalution from India,as i find it easy when i do it from here.or do i need a PR to start the registration? 2.is there a time limit within which i should appear for the ist AFK exam after my application is approved by INDBE also isn't PR mandatory to apply for exam? 3. This is an out of topic question..As a dentist on student visa, after my work permit,when i file for PR , which evalution should i do for academic credentials( wes or icas or iqas or Mcc) also.which should i select course by course or document by document.. if you know kindly reply sir..as iam having so much confusion with all this new terms i found out.. I know im commenting after months of posting this video..but i hope u reply..Than you

Hello doctor, congratulations on your visa approval and Canada welcomes you! Thank you for your kind words towards our efforts as well. To answer your queries: 1.) NDEB document verification and credential evaluation can be done from back home for sure. You do not need a PR in that initial phase.
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory Жыл бұрын
2.) there is no time limit that makes you appear for the AFK exam and no PR is needed for that exam either. In fact you do nor need PR to take any of the three exams. You will only need PR for DDS admissions in Canada at a University.
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory Жыл бұрын
3.) so as a rule of thumb, for any academic purpose like for NDEB we need WES evaluation of course by course whereas for any immigration related files we need WES evaluations of the basic evaluation. Not course by course.

As discussed previously as well , in my bds I have taken 3 yrs more to complete the course, have many absenteeism in my results, nd have got ielts 8 and avg bds 65% if I score high in afk , do I stand any chance to get into any university in Canada or I should opt for the equivalency route,, Also is passing acj necessary for degree continuing ?!
@TheToothFactory
@TheToothFactory 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I remember us discussing. In this case I would keep both windows open. See, when one get a high score in AFK, their window for DDS is opened with degree completion and so is the exam route window. So in reality they check all aspects BDS scores and AFK scores and also how many attempts of AFK it took as well. Along with it comes IELTS and then SOP when deciding the admissions. So, I highly recommend that lets aim for a High Score for AFK and then apply to the Universities upon passing anyways. While you are waiting on a response from Universities, you might as well go ahead an do ACJ and NDECC. That’s he most efficient way.
@TheToothFactory

You do not need ACJ for university applications. The requirements are of AFK only

Hello doctor, There have been no changes this year thus far with NDEB. And yes NDECC is the third of the three exams in the equivalency process. So NDECC is a portion of NDEB. It is the clinical skills and situational judgement exam that tests our in clinic knowledge as a practicing dentist.

Hello, I really appreciate your efforts in making precise and concise video entailing the process of NDEB and its certification process on becoming dentist in Canada. I have become a Permanent Resident of Canada, and now I wish to start the registration (Equivalency) process. As you mentioned in the registration aspect that in the applicant's part we need to send in the notarized documents, but I do not have notarized documents of Dental Degree and ICC (Internship Completion Certificate) from India, however, I do possess the original ones with me. So, with the help of the original ones can lawyer be able to notarized the documents (Dental Degree and ICC) over here in Canada? Also, by any chance if, lawyer are unable to notarized the documents in Canada, then what are the other options to consider? Moreover, after sending the documents to the NDEB (From applicant's side), I would have to download the form (after registration) and, I need to ask my university to fill it up from their side and send the necessary documents from India to NDEB? is that right? Last but not the least, does my state Dental Council registration (In India) has any role to play in this equivalency process? I would really appreciate if you can answer my above-mentioned queries.

Hello doctor, congratulations on becoming a PR of Canada and it is honourable for us to see more and more dentists like yourself to begin the NDEB process doctor. Thank you for your appreciation and here are your answers. 1.) yes a Canadian lawyer will be an ideal case scenario. You just need to look for a notary official near you and take your originals with you. This is a common practice for our initial NDEB process. 2.) you got it perfect doctor, the form must be filled half by you and half by your university back home. And they must send a couple pieces of documents from their end with seal on it. (Male sure the university would seal it accurately, people have been denied application due to improper seals). 3.) yes the new update from NDEB is that a “Good Standing Certification” is required to be sent directly from the dental council office to NDEB. This has become a common practice now as well so back home no one in the council would be surprised by your request. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have further queries.
