Actually, you’ve been coming across my feed regularly and sometimes I felt you were a bit snarky. But any doubts I had about you melted away by the sheer happiness you showed upon becoming a Dutch citizen.

Hey thank you for that very detailed and informative video! 😊 Also gefeliciteerd 🎉 Now, I am eligible to apply for the citizenship next year, but I have two questions - 1. Can we travel within Europe / outside of Europe while the application is in progress? 2. Does 5 year period mean 5 years from the day you arrived first in NL or is it the exact 5 year equivalent in terms of days lived in NL ( I mean to exclude the days you vacationed outside of NL) Thanks again! :)

I have a Dutch mother, Turkish father. When I was born, citizenship only passed from the father, therefore me and my sister did not receive the Dutch citizenship - can you imagine? Thankfully there was a change of law and other changes made in legislation that we were finally able to get it as 3 and 6 year olds. I know many others who either never got the nationality or lost their Dutch nationality when they married etc. back in those days. Nowadays, my (non existent) grand child's child's child's child's child's .... can get the Dutch nationality. That's a bit strange too. But of course, gefeliciteerd to you!

@Frag_Limit well , I was young 20 years ago , then it made sense to work hard , travel hard , make an effort to learn language , culture ,effort to fit in, etc ..Dutch passport made sense then .. now as I am older, I feel at home more in India ,no need to try hard to fit back in India , contentment and belonging is more in India ..maybe the real reason some sun and tropical heat on the middle aged bones 😇 is a good reason 🙃

Is it advisable to apply for the Permanent Resident card before (3 months before the 5th year mark) applying for the passport for HSM visa holders as it might limit the possibility for changing jobs during the application?

Just a quick one, I think I heard you mention you arrived in 2019 and I’m just curious how you were able to apply in less than the 5 year period? Did you utilise the option route?

@@mxf3005 These locals should also know that immigrants are not the cause of housing problems and other problems. EU nationals can come in as they please what about that? They should direct their frustrations toward the actual cause which is big corporations buying out houses but NO. Immigrants are an easy scapegoat while the rich keep getting richer. They do not own this country. Should have thought about this before colonising the whole world like please.
