@@darko_n6819 the sarcasm is not lost on me lol, I just wanted to state I started as a game dev (making accessible games for my son), and then did a few traditional games, some networking (multiplayer) games and physical networking, and then starting working on Android apps and games, mobile game dev got me interested in Android apps, did some iOS, even made a controller prototype for accessibility, and then while trying to find a job recently, it was suggested by a longtime colleague of mine to focus on front-end or UI/UX development. Bouncing around different technologies to see what you like or what you can do, is not necessarily bad thing. Front-end is in demand, but so are a lot of other pos in tech.

Stumbled across this video and am currently a sophomore in highschool looking into web/game development. Im currently learning some html on my own time but seeing this video really did clear a lot of things up. I was planning to move to CSS after html and then Javascript but I might learn those other programs. If you have any other tips I'd love to hear them but nice quality video and keep up the good work 👍🌟

Startin early!!!??! If I were you I'd cont. to learn html and css. Once you're comfortable with those, move to learn JS. Since you're in highschool now I wouldn't stress too much about learning a framework, because by the time you hit the coding workforce the tools will all have changed. (But if you just like learning code things learning React.js won't hurt)

Here’s a cool analogy for HTML, CSS, & JS: HTML is the bones (structure of the webpage). CSS is the skin, your outfits, the way you decide to style yourself. JavaScript is the most vital part; the organs. Without JS/your organs, your body/website will not be able to do much. I hope this helps!

In basketball you can't just read a book about how to shoot a free throw. Or watch someone else shoot free throws. You got to roll up your sleeves and actually try to shoot a ton of shots for yourself. Same with development and learning to code. You're not going to get better until you actually write your own code. Even if it doesn't work the first time, thats still 1000% better than watching someone do it correctly.

Hey Jeremiah, I had a few questions if you wouldn't mind answering. I am currently a senior in college and will graduate with a BS in Computer Science. However, my school only teaches backend like Java, C, C++, Python and I want to do front end. I have a strong foundation in vanilla HTML and CSS and understand vanilla Javascript. My question is what should I try to learn next? I've done some interviews and they ask for SASS, React. Should I start on React and then SASS or vice versa? Any other tips would be great, thank you for your time.

So, I've learned HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and I'm now learning SASS, Bootstrap, React, and Redux. Earned a few certifications through freeCodeCamp, built my portfolio site and a handful of samples sites. I'm at the stage of applying to jobs now, and everyone wants 4+ years of experience. Do you have any insight on how to overcome this or where to look for truly ENRTY-LEVEL jobs? I watched another of your videos explaining that you got your first Software Engineering job through a connection in the military when you were enlisted. The job description sounded like a dream: "Must know HTML, CSS, JavaScript; most importantly, must be ready to learn more." That's exactly what I need, but can't seem to find it.

Great video man. I'm 37 now, thinking about a career change. Do you think it is too late to divert all my efforts into web development? If not, how long will it realistically take me to reach a level where I could earn a decent amount, on the basis that i'm willing to learn for 8 hours per day?

You’re not the first person in their 30s to change their career into tech. I’d say 3-4 months learning, 1-2 months building portfolio(apps), and then 2 months job hunting.

@@JeremiahPeoples That is a very encouraging timeline!! I am 30, I have been a computer guy my entire life but went into heavy skilled trades chasing money, all I've been left with is a body that's breaking down and empty promises. I can't wait to change my path, thanks for all the great content.

I am 35 and I just started. I have been putting a ton and i mean alot of hours on learning. I am taking the Front End developement career path with codecademy and I have to say it is amazing and I am learning and love that they give you tons of projects for you to figure out. Mind you, I am also in school finishing my degree in software development, but I will definitely be applying after I finish this course. No matter the age, follow your desires!

Hello I have a strong motivation and interest to become a Front - End programmer but mathematics is not one of my strong subjects. I have difficulties and problems in programming with JavaScript and I am afraid that I need mathematics to do it because others explain to me that it is needed to get it. I study in an academy but as we know there are academies that can and cannot explain and study well, the other question is whether you can tell me where it is best to study if you have taken courses to tell me where they teach well and they study and not just to give crazy money for courses and nothing happens because the teacher is not good at teaching. But my biggest question remains whether I need math and ask you to recommend somewhere to study.

This may be a dumb question but I am really confused about this… can you strictly start a career just doing front end development or do you need to know backend as well? Every article I read pushes full stack. I know many jobs require a knowledge of both but can I get my foot in the door knowing HTML, CSS and JavaScript. for instance Colt Steele’s course goes over how to become a full stack developer, can you land a job knowing strictly front end? Many “front end developer” courses touch on backend or full stack as well. Do I need to know full stack to get a job as a front end dev?

Yes you can find just frontend jobs. you should know ABOUT backend at a high level
