Honours isn't necessary for PhD. I would advice general courses as better because later you have lot of options for your PhD

Very good junior. In India the profession of Doctors and Engineers is so idealised that students do not take biology for PhD to be scientists. There is need of awareness that doctors give those medicines and use those healthcare machines which are discovered by scientists. There is also need for increment in salary package for scientists in healthcare sector so that students choose PhD over rushing blindly for MBBS.

You can do your bachelor's in any core subject (I did in microbiology). Then you need to do a master's in Neuroscience ( I'm from National brain research centre). After that you need to choose a neuro lab for your phD and then post doc. Hope this helps.

For bsc and msc I think best is niser and iisers. And you don't have to give NET JRF CSIR and you will be doing phD in Foreign Universities.
