Most important thing is to take what you learn and apply it by creating demo projects. A big pro of going to bootcamp or even better a college for a degree is networking (since finding a trustworty mentor can exponentially promote your growth early) and learning how to work in a team if you have no experience with this. You can definitely join a free open source project but most likely you wont know what the hell is going on and some people may or may not be willing to help you catch up on the project and what it does.

Good video. At the same time. Here's my take. Many people do things backwards: trying to learn the foundation first without practical knowledge. That is why many entry-level folks have a hard time finding a new job because they don't have the job ready skills. Here's my advice: Do self-learning & online bootcamp first, get a related job, build experience, and then enroll in part-time studies for continued education in your field. Mastering foundation is actually quite challenging and you won't truly resonate with the concepts with 1000 page textbooks. These are mastered overtime with experience and self-discovery.

Hello- Loved the video. I’m currently at Purdue University majoring in Computer information technology. You mentioned that taking courses that relate to software development will help me. Do you have any other advice on ways I could beat out the computer science kids at my school for internships? Ive joined application development clubs but I’m looking for other ways to pad my resume bc the CS kids are always looked at first. Would really appreciate some advice on where I should be investing my time. Thanks

Work experience is what ultimately companies look for and value the most. What I did to land my first SWE job and beat out CS kids like u mention was to get a part-time programming/SWE job. Not only do u get paid (even a little), u gain work experience + learn a lot. Search for ones in google.

Hi Pirate King, remember me? Your strategy for growth was inspiring. It inspired me to try to save a video. Something in general I cannot do. In the past I feel like I can't hold it, but now I can be more strategic. I'm a software engineer as well and I'm getting obsessed with making arguably funny UFC Videos. So my question is, what do you do to not have your head floaded with ideas to implement on your videos taking space from really important stuff in your life. Or even stop YT. What I feel is that I'm obsessed with making this videos because I barely made YT money and I feel like stopping right now will be like a failure. I knew all these, I knew is not right, but still I can't stop. I feel like I'm a drug addict. I know this is not the type of comment you would expect. But I would really oike to have an answer from you. Merry Christmas and Happy new year!!

Hey! Merry Christmas and a happy new year! Thanks for reaching out! Yeah, definitely remember you :p I don't think I'm in the position to give you any kind of advice, but what if you try giving yourself a little break? I recently slowed down my upload frequency because I realized that I'll burn myself out if I keep doing this. Although I do see a decline in the channel engagement, at least my mind is at peace. It's never too late to resume regular upload schedule, and you can explore different ideas for your contents while you take a rest. Besides, I myself took a break for about three weeks during Thanksgiving. It was nice and gave me an ample amount of time to think about what I want to do next. Hope it helps! All the best!

@@PIRATEKINGDOM hey!! Cool! It was the right idea to come talk with you. It was also nice from you to let me know you are also having your struggles. Yes I definitely think that taking a break works. I was taking a break actually but I saw the opportunity to make a short because it was "short" and then I relapsed. Did 3 vids already (posting the 3rd tomorrow) working on the forth but hopefully this will be the last from this relapse. But I'll try to follow your advice harder. I'm going to do some breathing exercises as hell to find focus, which I lost because of my youtube addiction and hopefully I'll start 2022 with the right foot! @@PIRATEKINGDOM hi there Pirate! 😄 I think my addiction is better, I managed to at least break the 100$ revenue I can rest. But the other side of the equation is that youtube has wipedout my gains 2 days after having a semi viral video. Thats how I found youtube wage theft hashtag #youtubewagetheft. It supposedly happens to channels below 100k. I'm very concerned. This is so disrespectful. As far as I searched this was admitted as a bug and later they rolledback and told it is our fault or somebody's for using bots/invalid traffic. Because you also went viral recently I would like to ask you if you went through something similar? Thank you so much and happy new year!!

On one hand some people are telling me that there are free boot camps but I don’t see 1:1 mentorship or job guarantees, and on the other end, I found a Boot Camp in MD University that is 13k but offers a lot of support with mentors, job guarantee and front end and back end. I am going to have to take a loan but I think I should go for the one in MD university. It sounded promising. What is your advice?

I plan on teaching myself by studying for 3 hours a day. I was hoping to get a tech job in 6 months and then get my Masters degree in CS. After I graduate I’d like to move to a software engineering role. I’d like to get into the tech industry as soon as possible, but I don’t want to limit my growth. Hey man, not trying to diss your channel, just hoping to provide some constructive criticism. To be honest, your production quality is there but there is pretty much no information in this video that hasn't been covered at least once by literally every other swe youtube channel. Granted, you do provide the information in a very clean and enjoyable manner, but I feel like a lot of viewers will be left with a sour taste in their mouth if they've watched similar videos.

I don't respect Microsoft. Everything that they make for Linux, MacOs platform has lots of bugs. Editor for Visual basic in Excel is a piece of sh*t. It supports only pixel character graphics & 2 colors. I can go on & on.
