Hey bro, biology a level would be good, perhaps psychology as well. Basically anything that a uni would require you to have to study physio (mainly biology) as that would be the first step to becoming a sports physio 💪🏻

Hi Saloni, that’s great. I like your ambition. First step is to finish your schooling. If you can try to do your university bachelors in U.K. university, it will make things a lot easier. If not do your PT degree in India, then come to U.K. for a masters. Whilst you do the masters start approaching clubs and doing work experience with local sports clubs. Over time, build yourself up by going to bigger teams and having more responsibility. Hope this helps my friend

I want to be a sports physiotherapist, but now I’m confused if I’m doing the right thing by applying to a Physiotherapy MSc. Hey Lien, Have you looked into the career paths of others who have taken the course you’re planning to take ? Usually they have this information on the university website page for the course. A sports physiotherapy masters is definitely going to give you good grounding for applying for those sports physiotherapist roles. I think bath Uni had a 3 year one which is apparently really good but I don’t know much else unfortunately Lien. If you have already qualified as a physiotherapist in the US then I’d say go for the sports specific MSC. If you’re coming to the U.K. to qualify as a physiotherapist by doing a 2 year Pre reg msc course, that’s fine. You will need to qualify first before doing any specific study. If you are doing any other form of masters, I’m not exactly sure how it would be valuable to you assuming you’re not qualified. Hope this brings some clarity Lien, I would also say the universities you apply for are the best advisors in these things as they run the courses.

Hey Lili, the requirements depend on each particular uni. If you’ve done a science degree you can opt for the Msc pre reg physio course which is 2 years instead of doing another physio bachelors.. it’s totally up to you. You have to usually study a physio degree if you want to be a ‘sports physio’. Have you found any you like and keen on going ?

Hi Varun, it’s hard to say. I think you could make the argument for why both options could be appealing to a sports club….I think if you can sell yourself and how your experience shaped you to fit the role at the sports club you’ll be fine 👍🏼

Not particularly... only thing that comes to mind is basic first aid atleast initially. Your sports club will advise you on what you need after this. The masters will prepare you for starting to practice as a sports physiotherapist if you wanted to gain theoretical specialism or just better understanding. You might even be able to get your cktp certification whilst studying - it’s definitely not mandatory though. * Also I should say that I am not a sports physiotherapist Varun. I just know from experience and talking with others.

Hey Varun, I can’t give you a definite answer as It depends on your relationship with that sports club. But personally at the same time I would say why not? - start approaching them now. - see if you can work/shadow some physios in sports clubs whilst you’re studying. You may get your foot in the door by starting at a lower level of competition but that’s the way forward 👍🏼

Nothing specific at the moment Sam. When you’re in A levels - biology for sure. You can do other things like a Btec in a science related biology subject as well. It’s best to read up on the universities websites of their entry requirements 👍🏼👍🏼
