Hello and thanks for watching. I am glad you found my videos useful. It is usually the Pharmacist Council in your home country that writes the letter of good standing and they send it directly to GPHC so you should not bother with the content because I am sure they know what to write. The GPHC has some specific information that they require on the letter of good standing and this can be found on their website (on the OSPAP guide/FAQ and application form).

You need to check their websites for their current fees. Check University of Brighton, University of Hertfordshire, Aston University Birmingham and University of Sunderland 3. Yes, you can use a UK solicitor. Good luck

You are welcome. If you need a UK student visa for the OSPAP, you are better off selecting the M.Sc version as you are able to switch (in country) to either a post study visa (also known as Graduate visa) or Tier 2 visa whereas the Diploma does not allow you do this. I am not sure about PHD prospects. Good luck.

I schooled in Nigeria but moved to Ghana and took their licensing exam to be licensed here, my question is since I didn’t write the licensing exam in Nigeria(I am not registered in Nigeria as a pharmacist but in ghana), Do I still get my letter of good standing from the council in Nigeria since that’s where I schooled
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 2 жыл бұрын
That’s interesting. I believe you will need the letter of good standing from Nigeria’s PCN because that’s where you obtained your pharmacy degree. You can also submit (in addition) the Ghanian one because I believe there’s a section of the form (do double check though) that may ask if you are also licensed as a pharmacist elsewhere. The best way to clarify might be to email the GPHC international applications. Good luck!

@Fashstyleliv

To be honest, i don’t think so but it is not impossible. On a student visa, you can only work 20 hours per week during term time and the OSPAP year is quite a stressful year to combine both work and study. I am sure people have somehow managed to do it but I have no idea what kind of job. I am sorry I have not been able to help you.

Thanks for watching. It all depends on various factors. Are you licensed to work as a pharmacist in the EEA country? If so, I will recommend getting in touch with GPHC and they will provide a clear direction on what you need to do. If you are not licensed to work in the EEA country as a pharmacist, I am afraid you may need to do the OSPAP. To clear any doubts, I strongly recommend getting in touch with the GPHC.

I’m so grateful that I came across your channel, it’s really really helpful!! Thank you so much. I have a question here: The website of GphC says “All courses starting in 2023 and 2024 are already oversubscribed, due to high demand and applications carried over from last year. This means that you are unlikely to be able to find a place to study during this time.” Does this mean I don’t have the opportunity to study ospap this and also the next September?😢 when should I submit my documents to them? Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much.

Hi pharm, thank you for this insightful video. Please, you made mention that Gphc might not approve an application because they might feel the candidate is not eligible in some instances. Taking cognizance of that, I wanted to ask, that does the duration of years practicing as a pharmacist post internship in the candidate’s home country matter in the deliberations ? In other words, can a candidate who just finished internship and has obtained his permanent license in his home country apply to Gphc and not get rejected ? And what are the things that can cause a reject for a candidate ? Thank you.
@Fashstyleliv

Hello and thanks for your message. No one really knows the criteria that GPHC use but I believe they compare that the university you obtained your pharmacy degree is comparable to the UK standard. Don’t focus on them rejecting you; be positive and submit all the required docs and I am sure you will be approved God willing. Good luck.

Your video is so insightful! Thank you. I have a couple of questions. 1. Can an employer be used as a reference for OSPAP? If yes would that be categorizes under academic or employment reference. 2. Can I submit all the documents required of me to GPHC while I prepare for and write my IELTS. Then have the result sent to them by adding GPHC address during IELTS. 3. Would I need to submit my permanent license alongside original degree certificate or just my original degree Certificate? 4. After the one year OSPAP MSC programme are we given an MSC certificate?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and glad you found it useful. 1. Yes an employer can be used as a reference and that would be classed as employment reference. 2. I have heard that GPHC only open a file for you once they have received a passed IELTS result from you and it makes sense unless they will be inundated with so many documents. I think it is best to start gathering the documents and pass your IELTS. That way, once your results are in, you can send your documents. 3. I think you need your original degree certificate. I don’t recall them requesting for a license rather they request for a letter of good standing which is issued by your pharmacist council in the UK and send directly by them to GPHC. 4. I believe so but I am not sure an M.Sc OSPAP is valid anywhere else apart from UK.

thanks for this Insightful video! I want to ask about the acceptance rate for OSPAP in uk universities if approved by GPHC ?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I am not sure what the acceptance rate is and I believe the GPHC and the universities alone will have that information. From experience, I know more than a handful of people who have done the OSPAP programme from various countries and I have never heard of anyone rejected by any university especially after the GPHC approval because once the GPHC approves you, it means you have met several requirements. Of course, some universities usually have other requirements but I think once you go on their website and meet these requirements, it would be difficult for them to reject you. I know Brighton usually makes students pass their Calculation test prior to an unconditional offer (I don't know if they still do it) and if you don't pass this calculation test, they won't provide an unconditional offer. Generally, I think once you meet the GPHC and the universities' requirements, it would be a straightforward process. Good luck.

What if you are not able to provide the letter of good standing because you are a fresh graduate? Will GPhC still consider it
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I believe the letter of good standing is an essential requirement for the GPHC adjudication. If you are a fresh graduate but eligible to register (even though you are not yet registered), I believe your country's pharmaceutical coiuncil should be able to provide a letter to that effect. Other than that, it may be difficult. I think you may want to enquire from GPHC if you are still unable to obtain a letter of good standing. I hope this helps.

@@sijuadejnr907 hello and thanks for watching and your kind comment. I personally don’t think it is necessary to do an M.Sc before OSPAP. If your main aim is to be a UK pharmacist, then go for the OSPAP and when you qualify as a UK pharmacist you can consider doing an M.Sc in something clinical pharmacy related and most work places will be happy to even pay part or all of the post graduate fee esp if you work in hospital. Hope this makes sense.

Hello and thanks for watching. By certified, I mean the original document has to be taken to a recognised lawyer or solicitor in your country and a photocopy of the original document is made in their presence and the lawyer/solicitor signs and writes a date to say they have seen the original document. GPHC also has specified wording that they want the solicitorlawyer to use. You usually would pay a small fee for the service to the lawyer/solicitor.

As far as you are a registered pharmacist in your country and meet all the other requirements, then that should be fine. Hello and thanks for watching. If you need a UK student visa, you need to apply for the M.Sc OSPAP. The PG Dip option is best for those who don’t require a student visa (i.e. people who already live in the UK or have a dependant visa or any other kind of visa). Good luck.

Do you intend to work as a pharmacist? If Yes, you need to do OSPAP. If you don’t want to work as a pharmacist but you just want an M.Sc in clinical pharmacy, then you can apply to the schools directly but you still won’t be able to practice as a UK pharmacist until you pass the OSPAP process.

Thanks so much for this video. I am still a bit confused. For a pharmacist and mother of 4 kids planning to relocate to Uk. What is my best option; start application for OSPAP and strive hard to pass or apply to study a different msc program in Uk. Use my student visa to come with my dependents?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching. I think it depends on what you want to achieve and your personal circumstances. If you are looking to relocate to the UK and live here and work as a pharmacist, then your best option is the OSPAP. Studying a different M.Sc programme has its advantages but will not avail you the opportunity to become a UK pharmacist as the only way to do that is via OSPAP regardless of the M.Sc you undertake. You can use your student visa to bring your dependants but I am guessing you are okay with the costs. It can be quite expensive and unless you have family in the UK or help to keep an eye on your kids, it can be challenging. If your kids are all above 5 then that may be easier but if any are under 5, you would have to pay for childcare costs and they could be quite steep depending on where you live. Are you coming with your partner/hubby? If so, looking after 4 kids may be manageable. It is not an easy decision to make but best to explore all angles. Good luck!!

Yes, you have to do IELTS unless your pharmacy degree was in the list of countries exempted on the GPHC website. If unsure, you can email GPHC. Generally, people whose pharmacy degree are from many countries in Asia and Africa will have to take IELTS or OET. It’s still same process after you reach UK, just ensure you have contacted any organisation in your home country who will issue any documents that you may need for your application.

@@ajalani5301 Hi and thanks foor your comment. It is really hard to say but I believe most OSPAP students do end up getting a place for their pre-reg and move onto find jobs as UK pharmacist. It may not be in the city you want but it is very possible and many people including myself have crossed this hurdle so you should be fine. I do understand the uncertainties especially with changes to visa but the advantage in the coming years is that they are bringing back a post study work visa which is for two years so you would have ample time to get a job without having the company sponsor your visa (at least during the period of your post study work visa). The Oriel system is mainly for hospital pre-reg training spots and som community and GP practice but there are many community pharmacies that are not on the Oriel system who need pre-regs. I hope this is reassuring.

Hi..I have a question for you…for an international student who arrives the UK on student visa, when is the course said to have completed, thereby qualifying to the recently reintroduced Post Study Work Visa.m? is it after the one year, after completing the course and sitting the exam or is it after the year long pre-registration training that follows it? Or in other words, does an international student start their internship or the pre-registration training on the post study work visa or on the student visa which might have been issued as part of the course? Or in other words, is the pre-registration training part of the initial course term time, so that the candidate applies to the Post Study Work visa after the completion of the 1 year’s training and thereby the registration or does the candidate have to apply for the post study visa, so that they can start their internship ?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Hello, as an international student with a student visa, your student visa expires at the end of the actual OSPAP course which is approximately one year (M.Sc version) and you will be eligible for the post study work visa (PSW) once you have completed and passed the OSPAP. You then have a choice of using the PSW (which is usually 2 years) to complete the pre-reg training year and write the final GPHC exam and then you can work for an employer with the 2nd year or you can skip the PSW abd apply for a work visa after the OSPAP which can be up to 1-3 years depending on which visa you apply for. The 2nd option requires different rules and of course for the employer to sponsor you whilst you don't need a sponsor for the PSW. So, No the pre-reg training is not part of the OSPAP course so your student visa only covers the course. The candidate has to apply for PSW or another working visa to enable them commence pre-reg and write the final exams. Hope this makes sense.

Hi I have a doubt, recently Britain has updated the shortage occupation list and that includes Pharmacist job, does this mean OSPAP not required for overseas pharmacist or Pharmacist who migrates through the shortage occupation list would be considered seperate? If so, what could be the difference between those who have completed OSPAP and the pharmacists enters through shortage occupation list ( point based system)?

Hello and thanks for your message. The inclusion of pharmacists in the shortage occupation list only just makes it easier for employers to employ you once you become a UK Pharmacist. The only way to become a UK Pharmacist if you obtained your pharmacy degree from a Non-EEA country is to complete the OSPAP programme, complete the Pre-reg and pass the GPHC registration exam. Unfortunately, there are no ways around this. You cannot work as a UK Pharmacist without completing the above steps. I hope this is useful.

@Reshma Suresh Thanks for your response. I am not an expert around Clinica Research Data Management but my guess is that you don't need to be a UK Pharmacist to be in that role (you don't need to register with the GPHC as a pharmacist). However, this all depends on what the role entails and if they specify that they want a UK Pharmacist. The best option will be to find the job and then discuss further with the employers to see what specifications they are after. I hope that's useful and good luck.

M.Pharm in the UK is about 4 years or so. I am not sure how long it will take if you already have a B.Pharm from India and want to commence M.Pharm in the UK. If you do complete a UK Mpharm, you don’t need to do OSPAP however I do believe the OSPAP will take a shorter time than Mpharm. After an MPharm, you still have to complete pre-reg and write the final GPHC exam before you are licensed as a UK pharmacist.

Heyy! I'm currently doing my Pharm D in India, which is a six year course here, consisting of 5 years of academic study and 1 year of internship. So I just wanted to know whether the internship is considered as work experience and a reference letter pertaining to the same can be used ?
@Fashstyleliv

Hello and thanks for reaching out. Yes, the internship period can count as work experience and I believe you can use a reference letter from that but you can always email GPHC to clarify in case things have changed. Good luck.

Hi, I can imagine the stress of the IELTS especially the writing aspect. I did check on the GPHC website and I believe they can't accept OET. IELTS Academic version is still the choice. Good luck with your exam and hope it works out well for you...

Thank you so much for the video.I'm from India.I would be happy if you clear a doubt. Do i have to re-write the ielts test before GPHC registration after completing OSPAP? Because we have already submitted the ielts results for the OSPAP entry requirements for GPHC??

Hi thanks for watching. As far as I know, you don't need to rewrite the IELTS after completing OSPAP as IELTS is valid for 2 years. I hope that answers your questions.

Hi, Is there any exam for University during OSPAP (Msc) or before the pre-registration training?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 4 жыл бұрын
Libin Joseph Some universities require you to pass a short test before you are given admission for the OSPAP. During the OSPAP (M.Sc), there are examinations and a project. You need to pass both before you can proceed for your Pre-Registration.

Hi Ma'am, i am pursuing pharmD from India, currently doing my internship program. i would like to work as a clinical pharmacist in uk. do the procedures are same for the registration of clinical pharamcist (hospital pharmacist) and a dispensing pharmacist?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the OSPAP course, completing the pre-reg and passing the final registration exam enables you to practice as a UK pharmacist in any sector you wish be it as a clinical pharmacist in the hospital, dispensing pharmacist, etc. Good luck.
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
@Neeraj Sabu most people refer to pharmacists who work in the hospital as clinical pharmacists so it is correct in the context because they work in a clinical way. There is a course called Clinical Pharmacy which one can apply to do once you are registered as a UK pharmacist and that also makes you a clinical pharmacist. I know it is confusing but I believe the poster meant working as a hospital pharmacist when she said clinical pharmacist hence my response to her. Hope this makes sense.
@Fashstyleliv

I know some universities that offer the Clinical Pharmacy M.Sc course that don’t require you to be UK registered pharmacist but you have to be registered in your home country. The thing is completing the course without the OSPAP process won’t still allow you practice as a pharmacist. It’s so confusing sometimes for international students.

So the experience is as a pharmacist student but not as a registered pharmacist. Those are two different things. It won’t harm to add it in.

Hlo mam, thanks a bunch for providing such detailed information. Is the 52 weeks internship paid, and if so , how much do they pay. And is there any scholarships for doing OSPAP course
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The answer is yes to being paid for the 52 week pre-registration period. I have a video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHjVfWaHeZhphpY and here kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHLPqIp3gd-Feqc. With regards to scholarships, there are quite a few and you could start with looking for some in your home country and with the university where you intend to complete the OSPAP but you have to apply very early as the spaces go quickly. Good luck.

More or less but I think it is usually a letter addressed to the GPHC. If in doubt, you can contact GPHC for clarification.

@Fashstyleliv

I think it is relative and down to each individual. I personally won’t do it because OSPAP is quite intense and having a young baby is even more intense. Maybe wait until baby is a little older but again it is all up to you. I am sure some women can. I have done OSPAP and have a 1 year old but defo not at the same time.

It can count but I think some organisations do value UK experience more mainly because the pharmacy laws and practice of other countries may differ.

Yes you can as far as you are a qualified and licensed pharmacist in your own country or eligible to register as a pharmacist in your country. You have to also meet GPHC's other requirements but they are all straightforward.

How should the academic and other references should be sent?.. mail or by post? Can we sent them or the issuing institution should sent them?
@Fashstyleliv
@Fashstyleliv 3 жыл бұрын
The issuing institution should send all references directly either by email or post. If it is by email, I believe it should be from an email registered with the institution. So it can’t be from Yahoo, Gmail, etc. Hope this helps. The actual form has a lot of information on this and it can be found on the GPHC website. Good luck!

@@Fashstyleliv hey I'm from india and my college doesn't have a registered email ID for sending academic reference. They only have Gmail. So is there any alternative for that?

They can send it by post then. Just ensure you provide the correct address to your college and including International Applications. Also, make sure they include date, full name of the referee, that the reference is given in support of your application to GPHC and they should refer to your full name in the letter. They can send it through trackable post or you can email GPHC to find out if they have received it once you are sure your college has sent it. Good luck.

@@nikhiltmathai6614 you are welcome. As I mentioned earlier, you should not send the reference letter; it should be sent directly by the institution or organisation. If it is in the same post as your application and the documents that you are supposed to send yourself, it will be rejected. The documents that you should not send yourself but should be sent directly by the organisation include your letter of good standing, academic transcript and references. I hope this makes sense. As mentioned again, download the form which I have linked the description box above and it will take you to the form which has a list of all documents including the ones you should send and the ones to be sent by organisations directly. You can send your application form and degree certificate by post (trackable post).
