If you remember in the last video, we overbuilt an awesome door for my new closet studio with electronic privacy glass and a custom walnut cat door for shop cats Jerry and Lola. And now it was time for the next phase of the office studio buildout - a walnut floating desk. Are you ready for kerf bending that doesn’t work, drawers that are too tall, sliding things into a bag, pocket holes??, hot glue, sharing a yoga mat with Jerry, pattern routing, lifting heavy things, using paper as a shim, the closeup of a pencil and shop cats that aren’t always helpful as they think they are…then check this out!

I’m going to add onto this by saying I love woodworking but when I do it I always mess up at various points like every single project and I’ve only really gotten to do woodworking at high school so far (graduated last year) so whenever I messed up I got glares and felt so bad about myself and my abilities even though I do end up making great stuff whenever I got the opportunity for creative freedom. Seeing your mistakes and how you also get upset and frustrated about it makes me feel a lot better knowing that this happens to other people and even though sometimes material gets scrapped etc you keep going. Thank you so much.

I love the fact that you show just how realistically woodworking is. The minor mistakes we all continue to make even with years of experience in the trade is what makes us all a better wood worker! Perseverance and overcoming are huge payoffs Keith! By far, my favorite build I’ve watched! P.S. Every build on here is my favorite 🙌🏻 Love this build and I can’t wait to watch the window sill trim, your desk riser, floating shelves, and your commission desk builds if we are lucky enough to watch the entire process 🙏🏻

I recall some years ago, some folks found it more cost-effective to make their own acoustic panels using layers of towels, over buying acoustic foam. "DIY Perks" channel demonstrates how much better the towels perform to muffle sound over cheaper packaging foams and pillows/cushions. "Soundproof Guide" channel mentions using a fire retardant spray for fabrics on the towels for extra safety.

@KeithJohnsonCustomWoodworking I do want to thank you for using walnut Rubio over the pure. A lot of people on youtube dont realize that Walnut will lighten in color over time. So hopefully they will catch on with what you are doing finish wise.

Awesome desk. I especially like the curved front. One suggestion since you had to need thin kerfs for the drawer fronts. I use 7-1/2" circular saw blades. Their kerf is approximately1/16" and they fit my table saw arbor. I know it's only 1/32" difference, but it can make quite a difference when trying to maintain your grain match.
