Really enjoyed this video a lot, and light-source is super tricky. Would it be possible for you to do a video on basic cube forms and multi-point perspectives?

Oh I can for sure make a video on that no doubt. I'll get to work on that

Bevel guy here! Thanks for including me in the video! And yes I know my lighting is all over the place😂 it's because I treated each letter independently (or as if they weren't all on different angles) and with the little highlights I just put them in places that would fill areas that were more empty than others to make it feel more full. In short: I got lazy🤷🏻♂️

Grim! I have a project I’m working on that may turn into a mural at a school. Mid if I send you some preliminary sketches when I get an opportunity? It’d be nice to have someone to look things over that isn’t a tool but also will be honest. Thanks for the entertainment regardless. Cheers.

I kinda disagree with the stuff you said about the "echoes" sketch. The composition is super balanced and the shadows and highlights always contrast each other. If you take a fixed lightsource and shade everything according to realism it can quickly happen that it messes up your composition.
@Theartistblock5 жыл бұрын
If realistic lighting messes up your composition then the lighting isn't your issue. That's like saying if realistic anatomy looks wrong then it's better to do it wrong, that's not how things work. Same applies here, if a mistake looks better then you have a ton to learn about the basics
@pikazoe15 жыл бұрын
@@Theartistblock If a mistake looks better then i would call it a mistake. Graffiti is not about realism in the fist place (which i know you love :D). In that peticular sketch i am pretty sure it wouldn't add much to the style if it were more realistic. He may learn something though
@boogie85865 жыл бұрын
pikazoe1 true graffiti isn't about realism, but when you start to incorporate realistic aspects to your piece, you more or less have to follow them otherwise it'll just look wrong. Not wrong in the sense of that's impossible, wrong in the sense that you have to suspend too much belief in order to see the piece as a whole rather than focusing on the things that are standing out (like having crooked and straight 3D on one letter)
@Theartistblock5 жыл бұрын
@@boogie8586 yup you hit the nail on the head. It's like anime, like that style isn't about realism and they intentially distort anatomy and it's fine because it's consistent with the other basics and how they used them. in graffiti you are allowed a ton of flexibility with lighting but like mason said, once you opt in for a certain style things need to be consistent
