I have been an Arborist for +25 years. To all who are saying here that We just want to cut down all the trees? No one care more about the trees than us. We would rather treat or trim a tree to save it than remove it. Unfortunately when the Arborist is called the tree in question is usually Very dead or dying and is a safety hazard. Many of us have actually talked people OUT of removing trees. Trees can often increase property values, but dead or hazardous tree can decrease values.
@danielm23125 жыл бұрын
True statement brother I also try to talk customers out of topping and have refused to do this on occasion especially if in time it will worsen the problem they think topping will prevent. I appreciate what beautiful things nature offers and only do removals if in fact the tree is hazardous to a home or business or power lines an still try an avoid it if something can be done to redirect any potential threats it can become. I usually only top your smaller decorative ornamentals like Bradford or aristocrat pear trees to give them a good canopy and or reduce weight through winter to prevent any damage cause they tend to break fairly easy under strain if there mature I'll just dead wood or thin them out and shape the canopy but when it comes to topping in my professional opinion it's only helpful to, if the tree isn't at full growth and your looking for the canopy to be somewhat fuller in time. Now say a tree is preventing you from adding to your home and there looking to take it down for something sensical I dont mind but if there's no real reason or plan for the removal I try to avoid those unless say it's a silver maple. the only maples I care for are crimson king or sugar maples all the others I'm not a fan of.

Since he wont disclose the bid, I will. On that job, I would have bid 1500 without stump grinding. I would have used a 35 foot towable boom that cost me under 50 bucks a day because i rent it by the month, this would save the hassle of pulling shit out of the river. The rounds I would advertise on craigs list for free firewood rounds further reducing my workload because someone always comes and picks them up for free. My Bid? 1500 without stump grinding. Time required for this job? One and a half days tops. 8-12 hours. there it is there. if stump grinding is required thats another one hour to grind and clean up so I would take the cost of what a rental company charges the consumer (around 150 a day?) then add 100 for labor. so thats an additional 250. Stump grinding is physically demanding so dont be afraid to charge accordingly. at least 100 an hour with a one hour min. if you need to rent the grinder charge at least 225 for the rental plus labor. So thats 1750.00 with stump grinding, 13 hours tops. Thats working by myself using a 35 foot boom lift and a 6x12 dump trailer.

what was the price?
@danielm23125 жыл бұрын
Trimming typical day rate for 8 hrs is around 1700 to 2 k depending on the company but removal can become pricey, you may get bid at a day rate depending how long the job will take and manpower plus equipment used but I've done extremely large trees for upwards of 8 to 10k+ depending how accessible it was and structures being in the way powerlines ect but say a tree of the same size that's really accessible with no obstacles can cut that price in half it just really depends what your facing to do the job. I really hate when people call an ask a over the phone price and say let me send you a picture an let me know what u think when a picture isn't always justified! It's like we can throw numbers back an forth all day on the phone but u cant be definitive on price till u know what your working with and visually access the task at hand. For anyone looking to have work done ask for insurance coverage there's a lot of schmos out there with a truck trailer an chainsaw looking for beer money and falling for a cheap price could cost you dearly in the process.

Kyle Armijo part of the reason my percentage is so high at the moment is because my insurance company refers me for home owners claims. At that point the customer don't ask questions because the one paying the bill is the one that referred me. But I always say if your getting them all your too cheap. If your not getting any your too expensive. But 50% is perfect bro. Keep at it.

Here in California we demand 50% payment before we even touch a leaf. And the balance immediately upon completion before we leave. This also weeds out bullshit customers . Any customer who tries to negotiate prices at all we tell them we’re sorry I can’t help you. The unlicensed uninsured scammer will eventually knock on your door to help you. Have a nice day.
@teddybhear37663 жыл бұрын
well you are full if shit. Here in California, it is illegal to collect more than 10 percent deposit however, that is usually collected by contractors, like masons, framers,etc who need to purchase building materials, not tree companies. I NEVER charge a deposit and frankly I dont know of any tree company in California that does. I charge the customer when the job is done and they are satisfied with the work I did. Never have i been screwed out of money doing things this way. Dont take this guys advice or you will end up in criminal court when the California Contractors Board tickets you for a misdameanor. Here this is from the contractors board in California and applies to D49 tree license. Contractors cannot ask for a deposit of more than 10 percent of the total cost of the job or $1,000, whichever is less. * (This applies to any home improvement project, including swimming pools.) Stick to your schedule of payments and don't let payments get ahead of the completed work. listen - folks are pretty much trustworthy. do a good honest job and you wont have issues getting paid. thats been my experience. the attitude of this guy and the tree company he works for makes me wonder how the hell they get any customers or repeat business. the approach, and attitude is ALL Wrong not to mention illegal.

I'll say this I climb professionally and have been in the business 14yrs, I've made 100k in a year but I was busy asf and I know my shit 6yrs in tree work isn't experienced enough in that short time you have only experienced the tip of the cock. When I started I pulled brush for 10$ an hr for 2 years then 13$ an after 10 years with my experience I made it to 20$ then my cdl to drive equipment gave me 25$ and through licensing to feed an treat for malnutrition or disease brought me up if I average my pay per day it's about 38 to 40 an hr I usually dont bring home less than 250 a day but I'll say I didn't get there in 6 years so if u want to be there you have so much more to learn and do to make that kind of money. I'm also independently contracted I work for the highest bidder I dont do the company thing on a clock anymore cause the only motherfucker making money in those situations is the owner who usually doesn't do shit or know shit. I can personally say among most companies in my area I have more credentials to do the job than the people who call themselves owners/bosses. I've proved my worth an put in the time an went independent and my phone stays ringing with work cause these guys know i dont fuck around and my resume speaks for itself. Besides when alot of these guys go to treat trees they dont have the license or any certification to purchase some of the materials u have to have to get them. Say this, a ash is being treated for emerald ash bores a gallon of treatment is upwards of 1k to purchase and it has to be injected like an i.v and u have to install a pump system to do it and over a period of time it stays with the tree until its healthy then u remove it but u have to be certified and licensed to do it an with that knowledge comes worth.

Just a question to you: Are you tree guys offer to plant another tree to replace the one turn down ? . Or this should be mandatory by laws and city regulations in order to prevent a ecological disaster; because if people don't think about planting a tree, world will be a big Sahara soon. I think people should put a little bit effort to keep communities green. What are you doing.......?
@northcountrynation7 жыл бұрын
Carlos Echeverri I only take down trees that are endangering structures. If I was taking down trees in the middle of the forest I would definitely be planting some. I think your thinking more towards loggers that take thousands of trees and don’t put any back. I’m not a logger.
@carlosecheverri40727 жыл бұрын
North Country outdoor Absolutely, I just think that you guys should offer e complementary service of planting back a baby tree. That way you offer the service while keep a green community. it also could be another income. and by the way the cicles never ends. You see ?? Is a win win to all. What you think ????
@northcountrynation7 жыл бұрын
Carlos Echeverri im not opposed to that. I think it’s such a fast pace world. That we try to get in and out as fast as we can. And don’t give it much thought. I guess ultimately it would be up to the homeowners if they wanted a new tree planted.

You Present several false equivalences. First, cutting down a tree is not synonymous with killing the tree you dumb shit. Trees evolved in parallel with large herbivores for the last several hundred million years, had they not evolved existences to these animals, there would be no trees now. With the exceptions of conifers, virtually every species of broadleaf tree and shrub you have ever seen has the capacity to exhibit adventitious budding. This it's a beneficial mutation in archaic trees, that allowed for trees to adapt to grazing during the rise of herbivorous life. Trees that could adapt passed on their genes, ones that couldn't died. We're living with the ones that did. It is this very capacity for adaptation that when exploited creates the foundation of modern harvesting and sustainable wood stewards. The fact that you are completely ignorant of this exposes your comments to be nothing more than hollow virtue signals. Secondly, a reduction in tree scape does not equate to desertification. In comparison to other vegetative species, trees are quite inefficient in resource usage. Particularly when compared to grasses. And I'm not talking about shitty lawn or turf grasses which are likely the only grasses you've ever encountered in your privileged suburban existence. While trees are excellent at sequestering atmospheric carbon, they don't actually excel at pulling it from the air. Grasses however do. Grasses are exceptional at removing b large amounts of carbon from the air in relatively short periods of time. For their size, grasses actually create more biomass annually than a tree. This does not mean trees are without merit. And with simple pruning techniques the best each has to offer can be maintained. Though likely not by lazy, ignorant people such as yourself, who, by virtue of their ignorance, give prefe fence and diefication to one class and imperil the other. Also, this isn't 1850, the old cut and tumble logging methods are gone.the Bri replacement mandates you advocate for ate already the law in the majority of the world's nations, or the industry standard where not. You are utterly unprepared to speak on this topic.

North Country outdoor I have a 2ft diameter 100ft tall oak tree that's between 2 houses and over both of them. 1st quote was 2000 from a guy that had no insurance and did it on the side. 2nd quote was from an actual company for $3000 but after telling him I had a quote for $2000 he said 1800.. I never thought people paid that kinda money to cut down trees. I'm not saying it's easy work but damn.
@northcountrynation7 жыл бұрын
peanutbutterisfu 1500-2000 is about right for a tree that size.
@bbigrocker17 жыл бұрын
@peanutbutterisfu I would love to see a picture of that tree, the numbers you are getting are way out of whack. Most of the time the numbers from competent operators are relatively close. The guy "doing it on the side" I can't really speak for him. But factors that affect cost are hazards, access and size. I think North Country touched on those issues. That very same tree in the middle of a field where it could be cut with no climbing would be considerably less. But when you have two major hazards(houses) you'll have to expect to pay a premium. And it can get rather expensive.
