Thank you for the video. I let my Chevy Stepside sit for 6 years - the 350/5.7L engine fired right up! Love that engine even with 270k miles. But the brake pedal went to the floor. I own a 2020 Jeep Wrangler and I am having problems with spongy brake peddle When I purchased the jeep brand new it had excellent brakes The peddle was firm and quick to respond Now after about 3000k miles I have lost the peddle and they are spongy slow to respond I believe after watching your video that is may have happened after the jeep went into anti spin mode once while off road This is not a problem with just my jeep If you go to the JL Wrangler forum you will see that others have the same problem and the dealer is no help. They say its normal. IT IS NOT NORMAL AND I NEED TO FIX IT I purchased a FOXWELL NT630 to perform the ABS brake bleeding like I saw in in your video with the Autel put it would not perform the individual wheel brake bleed with the ABS pump running What it did do I think was open inlet and outlet valves and run the ABS pump so I did bleed the brakes several times opening the valves and running the pump This did improve the peddle by 50% put I can still tell there is air in the system All this to say do you know if the Autel will run an individual wheel ABS brake bleed like seen in your video on a Jeep Wrangler JL 2018 to 2021 Thanks for your help Larry

Excellent diagnosis it sounds like you are 100% correct. Off road use with ABS can absolutely get air in the ABS system and cause that problem. I saw where several people had replaced all brake components prior to bleeding system. One thing I saw no mention of is that all rotors need to be trued when new . They are not always true when new and that will cause pre mature wear on new pads . And if you are just replacing pads the rotor is just like the surface of a cylinder in a motor. They need just a bit turned on a brake lathe or they will just also eat up new pads.

Thank you very much for the video. Just to confirm, by attaching the scanner and follow the instruction for all four wheels, did we only bleed the ABS system as per the scanner, and we will still have to manually bleed all four wheels again by the traditional way? Or did we actually achieved bleeding both the main system, as well as the ABS system?

However when the mech tried to perform a bleeding of front right brake, he said it was not bleeding well enough. After many attempts he decided to check on my abs pump. He disconnected the line out from abs pump to front right, and upon pressing the brakes, little brake fluid seems to be coming out of the abs pump supplying to front right. @JustAlanIsCool Жыл бұрын
Master cylinder. 2009 sonata with same exact symptoms. I bled the brakes today (old school way) and got plenty of fluid out at each corner, rotors still look brand new after a couple hours of trying to break the new rotors and pads in. If the booster was bad you wouldn't be able to move the pedal even with the engine running. In other words, no power brakes.

Hello, I am planning on disassemblying my abs module tomorrow on my 2014 honda accord because I need to replace it. What if I don't have the money for a scanner good enough for this function? My current scanner is a launch X431 creader VII+ and I know for a fact that it doesn't have the function. Is there any way to manually do it?

Can I do this with the engine on? My battery is dead because I left the car seating for several weeks due to brake issues.
@2carpros3 жыл бұрын
It's best to recharge your battery with a charger or get a fresh one. Starting the engine while on jack stands or something can make it unstable and I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you. That being said you could probably do this with the engine on unless the scanner stops you, I wouldn't know I haven't tried it with the engine on. Thanks for watching!

No, Ford engineered that engine with bad cam phasers that ARE going to go out at some point. Was and is a bad engine. Ford is better than that. 2004-2008 was terrible for the 5.4 engine

HOW ABOUT THE AUTO BLEED. some show you do not have to open at each wheel. will the auto bleed still bleed all the air from the lines and the pump motor.
@2carpros3 жыл бұрын
If you follow the steps on screen it will get all the air from the pump, but maybe not all the way out the lines. You might have to bleed brakes like normal afterwards if the pedal feels soft or spongy. Thanks for watching!

What’s the sequence normal bleed procedure, then bleed abs, then normal brake bleed procedure?
@2carpros2 жыл бұрын
Typically yeah. You'd bleed it, then if that doesn't get the desired pedal I'd do the ABS thing, then if it still feels weird, I'd normal bleed again. Thanks for watching!

@@2carpros Thank you! After changing all my brake lines it's now thrown the ABS light on with codes for front and back sensors on passenger side.. I find that really strange that both sensors just die at the same time so thought perhaps it's because I have trapped air in the abs module

Nice video! I've got a 2016 Silverado 2500 HD, I bought the truck new in May 2016. Every time I apply the brakes on the first push the pedal feels a little spongy but if I let go and reapply the brakes then it feels hard and no sponginess. Every time I went to the garage I'd forget to mention it and now 6 years later it still does it but I got used to it. My wife probably never noticed it because she never said anything about it. I guess I might have air in the system. Am I correct to assume that? I'd actually like to replace the brake fluid since it's 6 years old. Would I just follow this procedure till I see the new fluid come out of the hose? Thanks,

I just replaced abs motor on new to me 2003 Silverado ext ls. Master cylinder looks new. System sat open without a pump for a couple of days. I did suction out brake fluid from reservoir before abs removal so fluid would not end up on the floor. After refilling reservoir after abs install.. Pedal goes to the floor with no pressure or brake fluid leaving the reservoir. I even tried removing the two line from the master cylinder. No fluid would come out the two open lines Whats up? Thanks...

Try that on a 2021 Chevy 1500 3.0L The truck had no lights on, front brake pads had 2mm remaing. As soon as the brake pads and RF pad sensor wire were replaced the Brake, ABS, Traction Control, and Engine lights all come on! The brake pedal must be pressed very hard for it to stop, like a powered booster is out. Oh... and to make matters worse it goes into "limp mode" meaning it will not go over 43mph. To use automated bleed the SnapOn scan tool says to disconnect the Brake Fluid Reservoir Sensor Wire and there are six different steps! You can barely see the wire as the Master Cylinder is down so for in the engine compartment you need a funnel or risk spilling brake fluid. So... 2mm on brake pads truck is fine. Replace pads the truck is nearly undeliverable and unstoppable. Chevys were never meant to be maintained.

Ah. Now I understand about the ABS reprogramming thing. Excellent video! I'm not lookin' forward to the day I have to do the ABS module on my Mustang, but at least now I get why I gotta have a scan tool for it. :p Unrelated, but I see/hear your comment about the 5.4 3v, and surely it's an... unfortunate, I'll say... engine design by Ford. I'm curious, though, if you have any thoughts regarding the similar 4.6L engine, which seems is the same engine except deck height. I hear all the horrors about the 5.4, but can't say I hear the same or similar about the 4.6 (beyond the stupid right side chain tensioner/guides that'll explode on any of the modulars, that one I'm personally familiar with.) Appreciate your videos, sir! Keep 'em comin!
@2carpros3 жыл бұрын
It's really not so bad! I believe the 4.6L is much better because it doesn't use the same really silly 2 piece sparkplug design. It's those darn 5.4L v3 and 6.8L v3 you gotta avoid. Thanks for watching!
@mikeybhoutex3 жыл бұрын
@@2carpros @2CarPros Hey Ryan. Well... if that's the criteria, then I'm golden! :D However, I must tell ya that the 4.6L from 2005-2007.5 in at least the Mustang GT of those years used the same two piece plug, and I had the pleasure of using the Lisle extraction kit, which I still have, on my 2006 Mustang GT. I extracted one plug (the last one, amazingly enough!) but they were *all* stupid to get out, just like you know with the 5.4L. I'm sure you know the solve, which is to use nickel anti-seize on the sheath just above the strap and below the thread to prevent the carbon-welding that happens to those things. I've done 3 plug jobs on the motor, and the second and third were no drama, as if it were an old 302 or an LS or such, since I did that first job. Silly Ford design. 186K on that motor so far, though. :) I'm just happy you only have that as the avoid! I can live with that, absolutely. :D Thanks for the reply!

Triton 5.4 2V were the good one's, correct? Mine spit spark plugs out. For the last few years I ran without an air filter nor did I change the oil... still runs like a champ, probably because I don't care about the rust bucket. 310k and counting. 🤣

Changed a leaking brake line on an 04 Cadillac Deville and the pedal is still spongy. The rear wheels are both easy to turn with the brakes pressed; the front wheels are barely turnable by hand, much tighter. I bled the brakes at all 4 wheels and no air bubbles anymore but the pedal is still spongy. Do you think it's possible that air is trapped in the ABS module? Or could it be something else? Running out of ideas, just weird how entire system has weak pressure after replacing one line..
