Only 500 miles on the bike....I'm not sure we'll be changing the brakes for a very long time. Super easy job so I'll keep it on the list.

Great to know about the secondary drain plug, i wondered why I had to suck some oil out after my first two oil changes, lol.

This model has a convenient "screwdriver hole" at the dipstick 👍. Way better than the weird tri-foot thing on the boxer engine oil cap.

Very informative. Just curious, I thought we have to do the service from authorized dealers to not void the warranty. Looks like that's not the case ?
@AdamChandler86

Perhaps in your country, yes. In USA you do not have to take the bike to a dealership to maintain the warranty.

Great video. I see that you used a 76x14 oil filter wrench to install the MAHLE 0C619 oil filter. But before that, you used some pliers to remove the old filter and not the oil filter wrench. Was the old filter smaller or different from the 0C619? Thanks!

Thanks Adam. I have a question. How can I get a scanner and program for oil reset?
@AdamChandler86
@AdamChandler86 4 жыл бұрын
There's only one I Know about and it's called GS-911. You may be able to find something a little bit cheaper as this dongle is pretty expensive but it is good if you ever have a mechanical issue that a scan will tell you what is wrong.

Could someone tell me what the level on that "pin" is when the engine is cold? Thanks.....It`s a pain to check the oil, since the engine should be warm - but how warm and so on..... So I want to know how it is with a cold engine.
@AdamChandler86
@AdamChandler86 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, good question but I don't think cold versus hot is going to make a huge difference here. Hopefully an expert can chime in.

Hello Adam, I am changing the 12k engine oil on F750GS. I may have cross thread the inner oil drain plug. When I changed oil at 6k it was wine, but looks like I damaged it this time :(. Any suggestion on how to fix it ? Would I have to remove the oil pan to take out the secondary plug.
@AdamChandler86
@AdamChandler86 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ashwin, nice to meet you. OOF, I'm sorry to hear about the issue. One option for sure, remove the oil pan but even then, you may not be able to get the plug out. It is common for BMW Techs to over-tighten these, I have heard a lot of stories. Do you have a BMW Dealer where you are? Did a dealer do your 600 mile service? That tech may have over tightened and you shouldn't have to pay to get it out. I would reach out to a dealer to have them pick it up.

@AdamChandler86

Nope but only because I can't. I work all winter in my basement and winter lasts 6 months so we do oil changes in the winter but I can't start the bikes because the exhaust fumes would kill us so it's my burden to bear. Service manual calls for the bike being warm.

Hey Adam! My dealer is 1.5 hours away, and first service they say takes 2 hours, so for me, it's over 5 hours of travel and waiting time plus the $200+ they charge for the service. Other than checking chain tension and doing the oil change, is there anything super critical that needs to be done for first service? Thanks in advance!
@AdamChandler86
@AdamChandler86 3 жыл бұрын
Nope. 600 miles is check fluids, chain, steering head bearing (lots of videos on this for F700/F800 that are nearly the same) The F7850 forums are great and someone in there will have posted the torque specs already. On the center stand, checking for steering head bearing play is very easy, chain sag is in the manual and this oil change video is all you’ll need. There’s no service light / code to clear that requires any special electronic tools until your 6,000 mile service.

@@AdamChandler86 Hey Adam! Thanks for the info. Sounds pretty straightforward. The only issue for me is that I do I have service code to reset as I have a 2021 F750GS with the TFT display, so the reminder comes on every time I start the bike up. I wish there was a way to reset it without spending $400 on the GS-911 tool...

I just bought a maintenance plan with my 750gs once I got it new from the dealer. 6 services for $2,500.00 over 3 yrs. Did I get screwed or was that a good decision?
@AdamChandler86
@AdamChandler86 4 жыл бұрын
6 services would be 36000 miles or 3 years, For BMWs, I think that's a fair price. The valve adjustments will probably be close to $500 and you'll do two or three of them in that time frame. If that is valves, brake bleed, oil, bearings, air and oil filter and spark plugs, it probably works out to be accurate.

Why this brand likes torx bolts so much? They are more prone to stripping, a hex bolt down there would have been easier to work on.
