Awesome Advice....I am just getting my head around Drop-Shipping and was considering Branding my stuff as early as possible to increase perceived value. It never even occured to me that I could get stuck with a load of products if things go bad!....Branding the packaging only is a great call!

The first step to increase the perceived value of your product is to increase the quality of your ads copy and creatives (it's the first thing the customer sees). Secondly, make sure the quality is consistent throughout your funnel ultimately ending with your product. Your message and your company's voice should be consistent as well. Lastly, (if you're like so many dropshipers) don't say things like 40% off or have a discount wheel, or offer any kind of discount on your website or cold ads. It'll turn a lot of people away and make them think you are selling cheap products from China, safe that for your retargeting campaigns.

Hey Scott what do you think is better for branding, just having the manufacturer find packaging and dropship from China or order a bunch of product and custom labels to the US and fulfill orders yourself. My product is pretty cheap so I can afford to have a decent size inventory (~1000 units) on hand and labeling and shipping it myself doesn't seem very hard. Plus there's the benefit of added brand credibility bc quick shipping times and ppl seeing it come from the US. It's an evergreen product and I feel like doing it this way would overall help me create a long lasting reputable brand rather than leaving a lot of unknowns like processing time, shipping time, item and package quality, ect.

the 2nd is for sure better for branding its just a matter if you want to put up the money for inventory and then remember now you have to pay inventory tax every year so you get taxed in 3 different ways if you have product held in the usa. but for long term branding of course thats ideal thats why brands gotta charge so much to cover stuff like that

That, the added risk of investing more up front, and the ease of hands free automation in the other model makes that one very appealing too. As a beginner I want to play it safe and go the branded dropshiping route and let them handle everything but I also don't want to ruin brand credibility and a good idea because I was too cheap and lazy at the start.

I didn’t think about branding only package...one question if you are doing a single product store for let’s say a handbag but there are different colors...would you create a product for each color or 1 product with variations? I’ve seen it both ways and not sure if one works better. I was leaning towards a product for each color so you could show multiple images for each color.
