Thank you for your guidance. I am going to give it a try. I currently have a pair in a community tank..but have been undecided on trying to catch them and put into a separate tank of their own. Cheers

i dont know why one of my kribenises ( male) chasing the female away when the female is trying to attract the male, need help ( both arent young )
@TheUrbanFishkeeper11 ай бұрын
Hi, this sometimes does happen. Make sure that there is enough hiding places for the female. If the male continues chasing I would consider replacing the male. I find the best way to select Krib pairs, is to select a "bonded" pair out of a large school.

These fish amaze me. I brought a "pair" before Christmas shortly after I realised I had two males which didn't go down well. One of them was trying to kill everything in my tank including the other male so I took that one back to the store today and they luckily swapped him for a female. I think I've been really lucky so far as the since I have added her in the tank they seem to be getting along really well and haven't left eachother. They keep shimmying and doing little dances around eachother and exploring all the caves I've found it amazing to watch and the colours on them since are immense!

Yeah, they are awesome little fish. Stunning colours. Good luck with the pair.

I don't know why my pair won't breed... they are bonded I have moved them from a community tank into a 80L with 3 BNP they cleaned a few hids and dug out some rocks but months on no fry. They regularly dance to each other and show a vivid red sometimes even purple belly but nothing

Great video mate 😊 I actually just purchased a beautiful pair of these from Annerly Aquarium, I am super keen to attempt to breed them!!!

Hi the urban fish keeper ! Love your videos very informative What’s your water changes like with having the pair and there young in the one tank at just 20L
@TheUrbanFishkeeper2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the nice comment. When there are fry I don't do water changes, otherwise I am doing 2 liters every 2nd or 3rd week. I rely on the plants to help :-)

Do they need dither fish if they are in a tank especially created for them ? 🤔
@TheUrbanFishkeeper8 ай бұрын
Hi, they don't, provided you have a pair that have selected themselves.

Hi guys just a quick question iv had a female for 3 months in a 150liter tank I was looking around for a male who was around the same size/ bigger then the female she’s chasing a lot and sometimes she will go for a nip but they have been in there 3 days now and it seems like she is starting to show red purple belly and swims right up close to him he is definitely up for it, is it more for a time thing thanks in advance

Do they like tannins ?

I find the darker water settles them and shows colors better.

I’m currently trying to breed the kribs, is it normal for my female to bully the male? He’s pretty torn up but he’s still persistent.

I'm trying to find some information if you can keep only males without females in a tank . do you know anything about this?
@TheUrbanFishkeeper2 жыл бұрын
Hi, normally a group of females without a male will be fine.

I bought 4 kribensis juveniles a week ago and so far none have paired up. One dominant male chases both females away. Not sure what's going on but I'm hoping they pair off.
@TheUrbanFishkeeper2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, they will sort themselves out and then you may have to remove the other 2.
@p3teytran2 жыл бұрын
@@TheUrbanFishkeeper if I leave them all in a 75 gallon planted tank, do you think they will form 2 pairs? One pair have formed so far but it seems the other female doesn't want anything to do with the other male

Hi could you keep kribensis with shell dwellers by any chance?
@TheUrbanFishkeeper2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the water requirements are different and the Kribs will try and kill the shell dwellers when they breed. I would not recommend doing it.
