@@NORTHERNEXOTICS As an alternative to the egg cartons, could you just add the remaining bedding a week or so (or whenever most females are done laying eggs) after the moths emerge to the top of a new batch of the honey mixture? I'm guessing the moth bedding would be filled with hundreds of eggs. If there is a lot of the old mixture left, you could add the egg filled bedding to several new mixtures and make multiple breeding colonies. Do you think that makes sense?

My son grows geckos and frogs. He called me last night to inform me that wax worms are wax moth larvae. As a beekeeper, that was a blood pressure moment. 😂 There are horrible in an apiary. Everyone please make sure you feed them to something or euthanize. My son lives in the city, and I appreciate the info on growing them either way. He will likely raise a few as feeders. Interesting, seems I’ve been breeding by mistake 😂 I bought wax worms for my praying mantis to pupate into moths for him to eat (too big for fruit flies). I bought some waxworms for my bird feeders and thought well I could try to breed my own. On reading the leaflet which came with the waxworms I discovered that they were especially bred for food and they would never pupate but just die after a certain time. Anyway I've googled over and over for waxworms for the purpose of starting a colony. I get loads of hits but none of them specifically say they will turn into moths given the right conditions except those in the USA and I'm in UK. I don't want to buy more and find that again they are of a type that will not turn into moths. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get waxworms suitable for eventual breeding please., would be grateful. Great vid btw, very informative, very useful thanks.
