Our company provides worm castings and worm tea brewers of various sizes to farms, golf courses, athletic fields, lawn care professionals, and home owners.
Today we will be demonstrating how to make nature's finest liquid fertilizer, worm casting tea, using our 5 gallon brew kit.

Worm castings are an odorless organic fertilizer and soil amendment that can be used in your home as well as outdoors. One of the most efficient ways to use worm castings is by creating what is commonly referred to as worm tea.
Worm tea is produced through a simple process of soaking worm castings in water with an abundant air and food source. This process significantly increases the density of microbial life naturally found in worm castings. These microbes will manage the plant's use of nutrients and also be a food source while providing protection against disease and many insects. For these reasons worm castings and its tea will outperform any other growing method, without harming people, pets or the environment.
Now we are going to walk you through the process of making a batch of worm tea with our D-9 Aerator kit available though our website www.casting4gro.... We will be using a 5 gallon container sufficient to cover up to an acre of plant life, which is more than enough to cover an average to large residential lawn and its landscape. This is a very simple process that takes only minutes to set up. If you can brew coffee, you can brew worm tea.
The materials needed are:
1. 5 gallon brew container with our D-9 aerator attached. (This aerator will supply air evenly across the entire bottom of the container insuring that microbes grow aerobically and rapidly. A must have for a successful brew.)
2. 3 lbs of Casting for Growth worm castings which contain the largest variety of microbial life known; far superior to simple standard compost material. Our brewing kit comes with the materials necessary for 3 brews.
3. ¼ cup unsulfarated molasses
4. High volume Air pump and air tubing. You cannot have too much air, but you can easily have too little!
You can't grow it better than worm tea, and you can't buy any chemical as economical. Visit our site today, order the D-9 brew kit and make a real difference in the growing success of indoor and outdoor plants, flowers, vegetables or grasses in the greenest way possible.

Did he say place the entire 3 pds in the bucket? GOOD LORD. All you need to put in 5 gallons is maybe a cup or 2 max. 3 pounds will last me all season sure, even two, if the soil is completely organic(homemade).

6. We are based out of Florida and send our castings to a lab in California to have testing done. If our customers need soil testing we typically refer them to the University of Florida due to their inexpensive test.

I use a tote, get red wiggleer worms from the compost pile, add garden material, grab the castings, toss into another tote with a pump, add water, pump the water for 10 hours, spray on leaves, harvest huge fruit, buds, berries, and veggies.

5. We use unsulphered molasses due to high sugar content. Black strap molasses can be used as well but the sugar content is lower. Our research has indicated sulfured molasses should not be used. As I am sure most people know if you look for worm tea brewing “recipes” there are a lot of different options and many of those options can produce desirable results.

2. While in discussion with other professionals in the industry and asking scientist at seminars we have attended we concluded the foam head is an indication of microbial life and can also be a sign of too much molasses being used for the brew. If no head is formed the tea can still have beneficial microbial life. This is used as a simple visual test for the end user.

3. The dissolved oxygen reading we obtained for the blue pump seen in the video was 6.1. This pump is rated for 100 gallon aquarium. Since this video was produced we upgraded the pump to a commercial grade pump capable of powering 2 of our D-9 aerators simultaneously and keeping an oxygen saturation in both units well above 6. .

We recommend 3 lbs of castings for 5 gallons of tea. There are several different thoughts on the shelf life of castings. We have seen them work well after sitting on the shelf for over a year, but the castings have live microbes so we believe they should be used as quickly as possible when the diversity and density of microbes are the highest.

Thank you for taking the time to watch our video and I am more than happy to answer the questions you have asked. Due to the length of response it will take multiple post. 1. 5 gallons of tea per acre is number that we started using based on research from Dr. Ingham and over the past 3 years we have continued using this recommendation based on the outstanding results seen by our customers who include professional athletic fields, golf courses, university grounds keepers and home owners.

Thank you for watching our video. Our brewer is made of high quality materials and uses a high volume air pump that alone cost well over "$30." While there are many ways to build a brewer we stand behind the quality of tea produced and the worm castings we supply with our brewer.

Since honey is an antibiotic I would not use it to make tea. I have not tested this as a serious project, but we did encounter a less than desirable result when trying to make tea using honey. It would be wrong for me to declare a "result", but it is to your benefit to proceed with caution if you decide to use honey. - Dan

I'm thinking the castings are all in one ball and not getting the air/water running through them. Maybe try putting it in loose and filter brewed tea through the stocking and see if it makes a difference. I would think the aerated water flowing through loose casting would have better results, however I know people do put the castings in some sort of cheesecloth or stocking.

Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible so we can show the “typical” home owner who uses synthetic fertilizers there is a better option, that is less expensive and more environmentally friendly. I do not know why you think we are scammers all the information in the video is supported with research that can be found on our website. If we were trying to scam people I would delete your post and ignore the rude accusations posed as questions.

Who originally came up with this aeration stuff? All you need to do is throw a shovel full of regular compost in a 5 gallon bucket and fill with pure water and let it sit, stirring a couple of times daily for 3 days. Pour it into another bucket through an old t-shirt. Pour 1 cup in a watering can and fill with pure water. As far as worm castings, it is quite expensive if you buy it and a lot of time and work to produce on a small scale.

I found a great article to answer this: www.waldeneffect.org/blog/Worm_castings_vs._compost/ A few months ago, one of our readers asked why you would compost with worms instead of just making a traditional compost pile, and I answered "Um, well, errr, they're cute?" (Well, actually, I made something up.) Since then, I've been delving into the literature to see whether vermicompost (aka worm castings) is the same as traditional compost, and have discovered that there's actually a big difference. When you look at the basic macronutrient levels found in compost and worm castings, it actually looks like compost is the winner. NPK values of compost will vary considerably depending on the raw materials you use, but each macronutrient will range from 0.5 to 4% of the compost's weight. On the other hand, NPK values of worm castings can be as low as 0.1 or as high as 2, again depending on what you feed the worms. Red wormsDespite the higher NPK values of compost, though, worm castings have a huge positive effect on plant growth. When up to 20% of the soil consists of worm castings, plants germinate better, grow faster, and produce higher yields. Why? The answer is that worm castings are biologically and chemically different from compost or soil. Worm castings have much higher percentages of humus than either soil or compost, which helps the castings hold more water and stay aerated, while also providing binding sites for micronutrients that would otherwise wash out of soil during heavy rains. The castings are also chock full of plant growth promoters like cytokinins and auxins, along with increased levels of micronutrients like calcium, magnesium, and sulfur. Worm castings also host ten to twenty times as much microorganism activity as plain soil. No wonder a study showed that worm castings produced bigger blueberry plants and higher fruit yields compared to blueberries treated with either cow manure or chemical fertilizers.
