Wow, you really know your lager brewing ! Impressive presentation. Most lager videos lack the true knowledge being articulated in this one

Nice video, lots of good info from someone who knows the trade. What are your thoughts using Saflager S-23 in place of Wyeast 2206

Hi Wayne, looks like we missed your comment. Saflager S-23 will do fine if you prefer to use dry yeast, or if you'd like to try something different the Saflager S189 makes quite a nice lager.

what was the OG and FG???? Great video, lots of info, will definitely be rewatching this one and you gained a subscriber!
@grain_and_grape2 жыл бұрын
Ah, looks like we mentioned everything except that! OG should be anywhere from 1.045-1.050 and FG 1.008-1.010. Should make a refreshing dry-ish beer at around 5%abv. Thanks for the comments and glad you found the video useful 🙂

Fantastic video, you've condensed everything key to creating a Helles in one video. I was curious on your efficiency, I made a Helles (almost same but with Weyermann Premium Pils) two weeks ago on the same Braumeister model with comparable mash, chemistry and got over 90% efficiency with the pH at 4.92. The recipe mentiones 75%, what was your grain crush?

Thanks for the kind comments Tristan. We're glad you enjoyed the show! The 75% efficiency in our recipe is just a baseline that gets used in most recipes out there -the idea is you dial it in according to your system. Ben regularly averages about 85% efficiency or above on our Braumeister so you are right on the money. I can't remember what efficiency Ben got on the day, but with the thorough step mash and proper water chemistry I'm not surprised you got up to 90%!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with this great video. I noticed the recipe given calls for Hallertau Tradition but the link is to Hersbrucker. Are these the same or similar? Or just accidental incorrect link.
@grain_and_grape3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick, glad you enjoyed the video 🙂. Hallertau Tradition and Hersbrucker are different hops but both work just fine in a Helles. Ben is particularly fond of Hallertau Tradition which is why it is in the recipe, but there are plenty of other German hops that will work just as well. I think we were out of stock with Tradition at the time of posting hence the link, but it is back now.... might be time to update the links! Thanks for bringing it to our attention.
