normally you should have a few fingers under the noseband... The noseband isn't there to shut the mouth... that's the job of the flash and that one has to be tight... (still there one finger should be fitting there) for the troat latch you want about a fist between the horse's cheek and the troat latch...

Huh, I always wondered why English riders used nosebands, and what nosebands were used for in the first place. So it's basically pulled tight to stop them from opening their mouths?
@99flutter
@99flutter 6 жыл бұрын
MountainGoaat I wouldn't say it's pulled tight since you need to fit some fingers in there, but yeah. I've heard people say it's so the horse can't avoid the bit, but I learned that it was so the horse couldn't eat and get food stuck on the bit that it could choke on.
@Whydidntyousayhiback
@Whydidntyousayhiback 5 жыл бұрын
MountainGoaat well sometimes, but the reason I have the noseband is because to stop the horse from eating and chewing grass or other vegetation that could get stuck on the bit or choke the horse because of the bit, the horse can still open it’s mouth and such

Why would you tighten that i hate when people do that. People need to learn that nosebands are bad and teaches bad horsemanship. Im sorry but if you need to have an extra mouth shutter thats just bad horsemanship also. Western people are also using nosebands. If your horses mouth is opening means you have hard hands and he or she is trying to escape too much pressure. Not saying this to be mean but this is one of the things i dislike about. Just antoher horse cheat to make the horse listen.

Ashdyne _Art when you pull back, the bit puts pressure. It would suck to have something metal in your mouth for hours if you were an animal, but no one would understand. I think EVERY good rider would make a better improvement in the bond of them and their horse if they didnt count on bits for "control". My opinion anyway. But if you didnt be counting on bits because you think your horse will act better with pain bothering their tongue or gums, then your choice
@jp8649
@jp8649 6 жыл бұрын
It's not a matter of opinion though. Studies have been done. If bitted properly there is no pain. Bitless options can be just as problematic as bits, especially if you're just plopping around in a cheap halter. They can put pressure on hard tissues of the horse's face and cause paralysis or other injuries. All these bitless people don't actually do the necessary research and just jump on the trend because it sounds good. Or they quote Dr. Cook, which is embarrassing since we're taught in high school about biased sources and he's the definition of one. Also, the fact that you think the bit is pulled back into the teeth shoes you have no clue how they work.

I get depressed and cry when I realize I will never own a horse I' m 16 atm but my family can not afford one I have 1 lesson every week, but it's just not enough it's not the same as owing you're own horse you can't do what you want with it when you want 1 hour a week will never bee enough. The day I was born I swear i know I wanted to spend the rest of my life around horses and only being able to see them for 1 hour a week is cruelty, ever since I laid my eyes on a horse when I was only 3 on my first pony ride ever I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life around horses and animals, when people asked me when I was in prep what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said a vet and still to this day the answer has never changed, My life feels incomplete without a horse and knowing I will probably never own one as when I get older and can afford one I will not have ask much time to spend with it as i do now, and thinking about it makes me depressed and some nights i cry myself to sleep to the point where I feel life is pointless without a horse, I'm not allowed to own animals at all my life is shit i love animals but I can't have one, If I were to die right now I would not care because my life is shit anyway.

Well my parents didn't even give me a chance to learn how to ride a horse when I was young. They said it was a waste of money and too far of a drive. At 30, 31 now, I started with lessons since I now have the money but unfortunately not the time. And still they think I am doing something stupid and insignificant to my future. I heard you can help in barns and sometimes ride horses while helping.

You are rude and she is not hurting the horse she says clearly throughout the video how not to tighten it to much or to put the straps in the right place so that youre not cutting off where he breathes and as for making sure that he cant open his mouth on the nose strap is so he doesnt strain against the bit. Youre rude and. If you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself. You dont even know her and you could be the reason she only has one video up because someone rude like you telling her she is hurting her own horse. RUDE!!!!! BYE FELICIA
@jorjawegryn-jones5374
@jorjawegryn-jones5374 9 жыл бұрын
You are right she is hurting her horse. Not by fastening the throat latch, but by fastening the nose band and the flash nose band to keep her horses mouth closed. When the horse mouth is clamped shut, the bit pushes against the roof of the mouth and causes more pain than when his mouth is open. Even though she thought that when he opened his mouth to strain against the bit, that isn't true. Horses always open their mouth to avoid the pain of the bit, not to strain against it. She was hurting her horse, but I'm sure it was an honest mistake.
