When I got my PR in 2014, i was excited to get my parents since I was single that time no family/ relatives in Canada. So I called IRCC. The agent told me that i can sponsor them through PGP which i knew I would not pass because of financial assessment. He said if I included my parents as dependants in PR application, they could be PR as well without financial assessment. If I only Knew this I would do it. But its too late. I learned my lesson..always ask and call IRCC for clarification than people around you..😔

But then our immigrant senior parents are not eligible for any pensions right? Since the sponsors are the ones financially responsible for 20 years

Hi there, It depends. Canada has social security agreements with a few countries. This means that if your immigrant senior parents worked in one of those countries, they may qualify for a pension in Canada. I'd suggest to have your parents check their home country's pension system to see if they have a social security agreement with Canada. Hope that helps :)

Can a student bring her parents to work? I'm planning to send our child to study there instead of us. Thanks

Hi Edward, At this time, work permit eligibility only applies to spouses. Hope that helps :)
