The most brilliant piece of garden furniture I have ever seen, Stuart. I have a bad back, so I need a workbench high area to work 90% of the time. It's only occasionally that I have a BBQ and I had one of those huge gas things that I eventually freecycled as it just took up space in my garage and was rarely used. This is ideal - a sometimes-BBQ-potting-table.
@ProperDIY3 жыл бұрын
Well thank you - it seemed sensible to me as like yourself, the BBQ is not a very often used item especially if you live in the UK.

Once again you created a work of art. To buy that in the shops would be a couple of hundred quid. And the way you present it through the stages to the final completion, you make it look like someone with no knowledge, not think twice about making it. Love the intro too. Made me grin.

the author does like to from scratch, shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. kzbin.infoUgkxD-QRFQz730FJEh4f9BYSf-nkIMIC9hL_ as another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us dont have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we wont be able to practice the full stack project, is still great.

@@ProperDIY great minds think alike, I have a 4 burner BBQ wheeled stand here in Australia and have taken 2 burners out and made a S/S tray to fit in there and use it for charcoal /wood burning and if the fires dies down it can be slid over to the other side for gas finishing. I like the drinks tray and interchangability of the tubs.

I'm just putting the final touches to my own BBQ cart built using your method. I've made the BBQ section out of hardwood decking boards rather than concrete. Using stove rope stops the heat transfer from the kettle to the wood almost completely. My challenge is that my BBQ is 57cm, which is pretty large, meaning that the top has to be big enough to accommodate a 52cm cutout. I'm not saying the cart is over-sized, but I've just had a request from the Royal Navy to borrow it to practice landing their F-35's on it. It's a great design and pretty easy to build though, so thanks Stuart.

As many others have already said, this is a cracking project & video. I already have a gas BBQ, a Greek style charcoal kebab BBQ / spit roaster & a pellet fired pizza oven, one can never have too many garden cooking options. However, this trolley is so useful I think it deserves to be added to my garden cooking fleet! I may not do the BBQ insert but definitely the ice bucket insert & the potting tray top are on my list of Thunderbird 2 "pods". The only thing holding me back is where to store it? My garage is already crammed & I have no shed. I might have to consider making it demountable so I can store it in component part form for reassembly as & when needed. Either that or, make it part of my existing run of garage work benches which are combination of old kitchen units / worktops & other fill in pieces. A bit of thought needed but definitely something I want to have a go at. 👍 🍺
