linktr.ee/the.... I love my honeybees but native bees are just as, and in some ways more important, than them! Watch for some info on bumblebees and mason bees and learn how to make a bumblebee house.

Hello, and thank you for this precious video. I found a queen bumblebee that was frozen on a street two weeks ago. She came out too early, fooled by two mild days after what temperatures had regularly dropped. I've placed her in a large, open plastic box with water and sugar, as well as synthetic flowers that she adores because real flowers are unavailable. She's now been with me for two weeks; the weather is still unpleasant for her, but she remained lively and energised until three days ago, when she wanted to leave. She is now lethargic, hiding under one of those flowers, but the temperatures have not dropped; they are the same as when she was lively. I hope she's not depressed or something. What should I do? Thank you

A bumblebee started a nest in some rags on my shed floor years ago. I managed to put her and the small nest beginnings into an empty birdhouse with some dried grass and leaves. In a few weeks I noticed smaller workers flying in and out of the birdhouse. Several weeks later this stopped and I opened the birdhouse to find many small ants inside that destroyed the nest. I hope they were able to abandon the house and begin a nest elsewhere!

Just a couple thots: Here's a more complex but likely more successful BB nest design: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH-co3yPo7dlmLc. Pet stores have lots of 'used' mouse/ gerbil bedding or use Nextdoor etc to ask for used bedding. Also, if a really rainy / muddy spot might want to attach a downward angled elbow piece instead of poking holes in the access tube to keep it dry.

Seeing this several years after you posted. How did the nest go? Did you get confirmed bees nesting there?

How about going to the pet store, to get bedding. From the gerbils. ??

Love it. Please let us know how that works for you. Would love to try it. We have a mess of catnip and garlic chives and the Bubbles love them. Pretty fun to watch.

OK I have a current queen bumble bee that I rescued she won't leave me so is she looking for somewhere to build a new hive she won't eat or drink she's been alive for 5 days straight like this and is still going strong I've made her a shelter to at least keep her safe while she figures stuff out. She's now in a glass house away from the harsh weather but what kind of shelter is best. I've so far built a box with ways and out will she build there or have I done it all wrong

I was told to put corks under the top lid as well as leaves and stones, is this the area they would do their waste in before entering the hive. Another lady I watched said you need two compartments one for waste one for the hive. I just wanted to follow your video as I have all the things already but when I saw you use stones but no corks I was wondering an I missing something or does it not matter what use use to create the area under the lid

I just whipped together some mason bee house the other day. Hoping some find their way to them.

Oh, awesome! Do you have a pattern or something you go by?

What is the top area used for under the stones that you place the lid on top, is it vital

Hello. Good video. Did any bumblebees move in? Do honeybees tolerate other bees living nearby ? Would like an update Please
