Got myself a 85 S10 I'm looking to do this in so glad I found your channel my guy. Mine is an extended cab but your truck compares better to mine than all the other videos I found.

Just a helpful hint on the curves of the 1/2 plywood, set your skill saw just low enough without cutting the plywood in half, and cut as many perpendicular straight lines across until you achieve the perfect 90⁰ angle 🤙

You will be able to cut your entire top section of the console out of 1 full piece

I'll probably do this on my 1986 f150 and add a wireless charger in it somewhere and I'll cover the wood with diamond pattern faux leather of some sort but good job!

I would fill in the area around the shifter, I think wood ruins it quality look, I plan to do something similar but gonna add leds

I did fill it. I sewed a shifter boot and made an aluminum bracket. ended up looking great.

I don't know why KZbin recommended this to me, but now I've got nightmares haunting me of my 1969 C20 custom camper 4x4😞 If you asked why I sold it, I couldn't tell you and it's still one of my biggest regrets.. but nice build and thanks for uploading!

I plan to do something similar on my 99 keep tj along side a remote shifter. I’ve been looking in the forums to see if anyone has done something similar but unfortunately no luck yet. Guess I’ll have to be the first one lol

Man. Too bad it’s 2021 and 3/4 plywood is $70 a sheet. Good video and great idea though. I’m gunna try it.

Yeah no kidding. I had to put a lot of projects on hold because of the lumber spike. Luckily more of my small projects are done with recycled material.

How did you mount the console to the floor? Not sure how much room there is for a fastener to penetrate.

With this console I built it to be a wedge fit. Its tight to the front and back, side to side. So It doesn't move at all. But there is no fasteners at all.

Its wedge fitted. it doesn't move or budge. seat needs to be removed to remove console.

Unfortunately not. The usb and cigarette lighter socket were pretty easy. I just googled how to connect them. The screen was just spliced into my old connectors. Pretty easy to do

they are buckets out of an El Camino. I welded some brackets to bolt into the factor holes in the floor.
