Putting 4" threaded headless bolts in the top 2 mounting holes will help the tranny slide in a lot easier, especially of you don't have all this fancy equipment😉 Slide it over the top 2 'guides', insert 2 retaining bolts on the bottom, remove the guides, & insert the 2 remaining retainer bolts.✌

I had Julien at Four C's Transmission in Santa Fe Springs California rebuild and put a shift kit in my 700R4. The shop doesn't look like much but the guy running it really knows his stuff and does great work. Thanks for watching Jared!

Just wanted to know if the 5th Gen engine the same as your 4th Gen in the ways of being rebuilt? Because I have a Chevy 2000 C3500 OBS 5th Gen 7.4 I want to rebuild. Just looking for info and where to start. Good series of info Thanks.

So it would be very similar it would have a one piece rear main and a different intake manifold. But the process is very similar! Thanks for watching!

2000 is a gen 6. 5th gen were the tbi 454 with peanut port heads. Not as desirable. Gen 6 is a factory roller engine

I have a question, I have been told time and Time again that the 700r4 isn’t strong enough to run behind a big block. I have a 468 with a turbo 400, and I hate it. I have 700r4 just sitting. What’s the pros and conns of 700r4 besides overdrive and will it hold up behind the big block

Just don't forget to install the flexplate to converter bolts... That can be embarrassing. Not big on the carb plate lift when it comes to the big blocks, they are heavy and I've see intakes crack from the weight.

What’s your thoughts on the cheap $20 rubber vc gaskets? I followed this whole series to rebuild my Gen 5 454 (which I recently got running, thank you) and I’m noticing an oil leak spot on each rear side of the motor. My guess is this is the issue. Any idea what else it could be? Starter bolts have oil, oil filter, bottom of headers etc. rear main looks very dry.
@designsinorbit
@designsinorbit Жыл бұрын
Good question for ya- why isn't Locktite used for all bolts in an engine build? Especially bolts that only have a 20 foot pound torque rating. Like oil pans.
@2carpros
@2carpros Жыл бұрын
Because it would be super tough to get the bolts out if there is a problem in the future. Heck you can even snap the head right off the bolt if you use red loctite or something. Thanks for watching!

If I do dyno it, it will be in the car on a chassis dyno. I have seen similar builds be right around 500 hp and torque so that's my guess :) I love showing everyone how to build a big block Chevy and it being preserved on KZbin forever. Thank you so much for watching!

Had a 73 Malibu classic in 1996 bought it off my dad when he bought the car he drove it 3 months and it swallowed a valve in the engine the car had a 307 in it my father found the same year 73 engine only it was in a GMC pickup we thought it was another 307 but turned out it was a 454 and that bolted right up to the transmission that was in the car which was a good thing since the transmission that was in the truck was blown my dad drove it another couple months after changing the engine and then he sold it to me me and my older brother took it out one night young and stupid looking for a drag race we found one we stopped into deryder NY at the local watering hole my brother went in to buy a six pack on his way out the door he shouted out into the crowd whoever owns this 70 Buick Skylark out here I'll run you to truxton for six pack his challenge was answered without hesitation and the next thing I know I'm involved in a drag race my brother got in the car and said follow them when we got to the outskirts of town he told me to floor it we were side by side with that Buick for about a half mile the last time I looked down at my speedometer it was buried past 120 and was still picking up speed I let off her coming into a corner then punched it again and when I did I blew the baffles out of the glass pack muffler that was on it we came into truxton sounding like a late model from the local dirt track we won the six pack that was one of the best nights of my life probably one of the dumbest but one of the best had a lot of fun small GMC 454s have some major balls
