MMM 40 - Sometimes we all just need some extra table space to set things on, and sometimes we just need that space to be portable. Good thing there hardware stores carry bucket-loads of hinges, and the internet is full of great ideas. This table is collapsible, lightweight, and portable. In fact, I ended up building this table, using it at the build site for the set build a few weeks ago, and then I brought it home to finish up. It was perfect for our needs, and it ended up being the table where all of our tools lived for the week while we worked.
This table is a Pinterest-inspired scrap wood project I used up some 3/4" OSB and some 1/8" oak plywood to make the table top, and the legs are scrap from an old shelf that the previous owner of my home had left behind. It turns out that after planing off the paint on the scraps, the legs ended up being made of pine and oak.
Here is the pin that inspired this project: / 63965257185464653

We kept finding we needed a folding table. This is so easy to store. kzbin.infoUgkxStL0QRChBju4aQlnTrRgBZvafFog0KU3 Opening and closing is easy as well. It has a great handle for carrying around the house. Its pretty lightweight and slides around easy. We bought it for our daughter’s first sleepover. Breakfast was a blur - but 12 7-8 year olds fit at the table with room to spare. We used it at thanksgiving and 6 adults fit comfortably on each side plus 2 on either end for a total of 8. Super easy to clean up afterwards as well.

I'm probably not your target audience (single mom living in the big city in a 600 sq ft apartment with a shoebox of tools), but I just wanted to tell you I really appreciate this (especially reclaiming the wood). It was relaxing like when I used to watch my grandfather do woodwork. Maybe I'll grow up to be like you two. 😊 Thanks for putting your work out here on the webernets!

Aw, well thanks for your kind words! Admittedly, it's painful to for me to watch these older videos from the early days of my channel, but I'm sincerely glad you enjoyed the content.

This video was exactly what I was looking for. I am trying to make a collapsible table with an adjustable top that I can use as an easel for an art table. I know how to do the adjustable table top I just needed the collapsible legs. Thank you!

I've watched four DIY table videos so far today. Although i didn't necessarily prefer your table design, your video has been the most watchable and enjoyable so far. You explained things as you went along, and your background music isn't irritating.

a family member has one of those ornate rounded curvy edge dining tables, i'm thinking to make one of these, with the top piece of plywood cut to the profile of the dining table, to make a custom dining table extension for the holidays. how's the wobble? sturdy enough for a couple people to eat off of and not worry about wine spilling? mine would be a bit bigger

This table looks awesome and I like your videos! I'd like to make this table for camping but I'm not sure what finish to put on it to protect it from the weather or to keep it heat resistant from the stove. Any ideas? Thank you!

Great video! Quick question: when completely open, in use, does the table feel sturdy or does it wobble?
@MidwestManMountain
@MidwestManMountain 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's relatively sturdy. I use it primarily as a portable table for setting down tools and supplies on when I'm at a worksite. That being said, I have used a big chop saw on it and everything felt stable. For me, I wouldn't feel comfortable with anything huge on it, but small & medium items are safe.

It would have been nice if you could have centered on the 270 hinges. They are important that ties the whole ....collapsible....table concept together.

@MidwestManMountain
@MidwestManMountain 8 жыл бұрын
+Ritesh Bholah Thanks! I used some old hinges that I had lying around, but any kind of hidden hinges would work well. Just be sure that your table top can open up and do a complete 270 degree turn.

Truly, I have no clue. I didn't follow any specific plans when building this table, rather I just looked at the picture and extrapolated my own measurements. Happy building!

hm... I plan on putting two monitors (I would say about 10 pounds each).. what type of hinges do you reccomend for that?
@MidwestManMountain

I really couldn't say. My first thought though would be to check the packaging for the hinges you're looking at. Odds are there'll be a weight tolerance listed!
