Thank you for your kind comment. I looked for a video of the whole process but couldn't find one so I decided that I'll make a more in depth one in case anyone needed it :)

Seem to me after all the hard work of disassembling, removing parts, replacing parts, removing paint, etc.........would it be more convenient to buy a smoker? After all the DIY, seem like the cost will come out the same as a bought one. IJS

Hi thank you for watching. The total cost for everything including the cabinet was around $20-25. The tear down wasnt that long maybe about 3 hours, 1 hour of stripping and 1 hour assembling. It didnt take that long. The video just seems long because I tried to break it down because I didnt find a video that did that. They just showed them using it.

Thanks for the info. Overall, yours was the best DIY video because everything was told and did in detail. You should do a series of videos!

You can get away with less effort. One of the builds I saw the guy did away with the metal tracks tracks entirely. Said it was a little harder to open and shut the drawers, but wasn't a problem.

Heating a galvanized metal surface releases zinc fumes. These fumes accumulate in the food but are also toxic to breathe. For this reason, utensils with galvanized surfaces should not be used in food cooking. This includes using galvanized-surfaced buckets or cans for cooking, as well as any ladles or stirrers.

I dont think metal intended for indoor use is normally galvanized. Reason being that in my experience these things rust almost immediately when exposed to the environment. Galvanization is intended as a rust inhibitor. Galvanizing is expensive, and only really needed for metals intended to spend long periods of time outside(A good example is the metal on cars. Usually even if paint flakes off the metal underneath won't rust immediately, because it is galvanized before painting). Office furniture, by contrast, is made for dry indoor climate controlled environments. No galvanization needed. What little danger there is of rust is prevented by the paint or enamel they're coated with.
