Thank you for producing a clear, straight forward, easy to understand video. I’ve tried watching other videos but the amount of non sense and useless chatter makes it unbearable. I honestly have been very uncertain and frankly scared about doing this work in any Harley engine. But after learning from your educational instructional videos, and that’s what these really are, I believe that I am much better equipped to tackle one of these jobs on my own. Thank you!! Well it’s a real bitsa so the cases are different years. One side 52 and one side 56. Not pristine condition like yours but hey it’s what I’ve got. Looking forward to the rest of your videos!!

The engine has been together for many years and has been lapped and matched. I had to take it apart to do a weld repair on one of the cases which has now been done. I’m in the UK and it’s really hard to get matching cases here! My next problem is that one of my tappet hole screws is stripped on the first couple of threads. (1/4”-24 thread). Trying to work out whether I should helicoil or just put a longer bolt in as the depth of the tapped hole is quite a bit longer and has lots of good threads lower down. The problem is trying to find a longer 1/4”-24 bolt! Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thanks!!

@@VenturiMotorWorks Oh That’s good then! Since your there and if you can source a 1/4-24 helicoil easier I would say go that route, the threads may feel good but might pull out too and you will be able to use the matching 1/4-24 bolts

i didn't any sealer on the case halves do you put em together dry then measure end play before using a sealer?

Yes I install the case halves dry and get the correct end play then clean everything and use sealer for final assembly 🤙🏻

My knuckle always ran bes n sounded best with 40" drag pipes .Always use 3 frame to pipes clamps on each exhaust pipe n they will never fall off.

@@magic4221 Some motors knuckle/pan have a shaft oil slinger that has a reversed spiral machined on inner diameter for oil control instead of a seal. This seal is made by Colony part number 7411-2 🤙🏻

Perfect. Very familiar with the slinger.....which always leaks when engine is not running do to reverse spiral design..... but just couldn't find a decent double lip type seal to replace slinger. Thanks.

Watch more of the video You can see me applying assembly lube to the pinion & sprocket shaft bearings. As for the crank pin bearings after the case sealant dries I pump the connecting rods/crank pin with a bunch of 60wt oil.
