A High School Maths teacher here. Was planning to build a small version like this and then found yours. Really Top Notch setup!!
@differentiatedcalculus86343 жыл бұрын
Sweet! Good luck with your setup. Prepare for a bit of frustration as you will probably need time to tweak your equipment and settings. Though, nothing involved is very difficult. It just takes some time.

Thank you so much for this clear, thorough detail. Looking forward, I think the lightboard format, while more costly, makes possible more personal and dynamic than current alternatives.

Dan, good luck with your implementation. Honestly, feel free to reach out to me at mnevins@everettcc.edu, if you have any specific questions about your implementation. Be sure to give your email a specific title like "Lightboard Question" so that I can find it in the chaos of my inbox.

Do you record the whole video with the polarized filter on in the camera? Thanks for this useful video.

Yep! I never take off the polarized filter. Definitely follow up, if you have additional questions!

How thick is the plexiglass you are using? I would imagine that thicker glass is better for the LED strips. Did you get 1/4”?
@differentiatedcalculus8634 Жыл бұрын
Chad, I just measured my plexiglass thickness and it is 3/16". I don't know how much the thickness would affect the LED lighting. Though, I think thicker would be better to minimize any bending while you are writing on it. I have had no problem with my glass moving on me. Good luck with your build!

Can you please guide on the placement/position of the lights/focus lights
@differentiatedcalculus86343 жыл бұрын
Riaz, I am far from an expert on the lighting. I am still constantly tweaking the lighting for my setup. I did some searches on KZbin for "Studio Lighting for video" and found a few videos that gave me the basic concept. Here is a good example video on 3-point lighting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJC2oKlprdKarck&ab_channel=DiCasaFilm

How has your board stood the test of time I'm thinking about building the same set up
@differentiatedcalculus86342 жыл бұрын
Just over 3 years (and almost 300 lectures) later and it is doing excellent! Just be sure to use the right kind of cleaner and microfiber towels.

What is the dimession of the light board u use and how we purchase it

We use Acrylic Glass or Plexiglass. It is available at building material stores, where I live.

Hi, thanks for the video. I saw that you used plexiglass and I've read that I should use ultra-clear glass and not plexiglass. Is plexiglass fibreglass?
@differentiatedcalculus86342 жыл бұрын
Plexiglass is also called Acrylic Glass. It is a type of "plastic" glass. I used it mostly out of cost and ease of use. I have had my lightboard for almost 3 years and have had no problem with the plexiglass.

I will work to follow up with such a video. Though, I only have ONE camera! I would need to figure out how to capture the camera setup with a 2nd camera.

How many boards would I need for Physics grad school and beyond for long problems ? theoretical cosmology is the goal. Have you seen the E-Beam Systems are those any good ? Nice videos though! I can expect to instruct like that if I'm at a University or College ?
@differentiatedcalculus86343 жыл бұрын
Joseph, regarding "How many boards would I need for Physics grad school and beyond for long problems ?", that's really tough to say. If you are hoping to create a video, the real question becomes "How much of the problem do you want to appear on the users screen at one time?". I think one screen is solid. The learner can always scrub through the timeline to see the entire process. Though, that's just my thought. Finally, regarding " I can expect to instruct like that if I'm at a University or College ?", I don't think you can expect it at this point. There are not many of us currently using this technology. Though, I do expect the use to grow.

how to edit the recorded video?
@differentiatedcalculus86343 жыл бұрын
I use Adobe Premiere to edit my videos. I am planning on producing a short video on my editing process, but I am currently knee-deep in developing Precalculus content (my current priority). Though, I should be able to upload a tutorial by the end of the summer.

Thanks but what are the glass dimensions?
@differentiatedcalculus86343 жыл бұрын
The sheet of glass I bought was a standard 4 feet by 8 feet sheet. The reason for that is because that is what was available to me.
