You certainly can. In my experience, it really doesn't last that much longer. The treated wood tends to start splitting sooner. But I also live in a dry climate

the cupping of the wood top should face DOWN. as the top cures/dries it will flatten out. if you go cupping UP, the cupping will get sever in a years time. a picnic table allows the wood to air out evenly so you should have no warping over time.

The cupping does face down, crown up. If you do it the other way it will split the wood over time
