Thx bud can I ask you something what amp fuse do I use between the battery and inverter 100 ,150 ? And what solar charger should I use a 30amp mppt I just got the sims 3000 watt in its huge and heavy so dam lol I’m sourcing the parts that I know of so far what about a trickle charger what should I use sometimes I feel like I can’t figure it out lol
@WesThatTechGuy6 жыл бұрын
Jah 100a is fine but remember the bigger the fuse the power that can be drawn in a surge manner. So that said if you don't have a need to DRAW 100a from the inverter than use a smaller fuse. Once drawing big amounts of amperage one should completely understand the cautions of HIGH amperage discharge. If you're running big loads at high high amp surges than yes use the bigger fuse however your inverter can only give so much anyways. I'm not sure of the brand you have mentioned. Not sure how big your battery bank is and what kind of chemistry it is so as far as a controller goes MPPT is always better of PWM. 30a is not usually a problem with most battery packs but make sure your pack can handle 30a continuous charge. btw all fuses/breakers from the battery to the inverter NEED to be DC and the wire size you need is no less than 4g and up to 1/0 to be safe. If low frequency than you'll need 6g (gauge) wire for your AC 30amp connections and and no less than 10g. 20a AC circuits need no less than 12g. be sure the main on/off switch can handle the load needed to power up the battery pack and inverter. 20a min switch needed or you'll need a relay of some sort. REMEMBER to build it safe and always going bigger gauge on your wires for heat and safety!
@lejend696 жыл бұрын
Lol it’s not sims it’s aims this auto correct is bad I have the same one you have there so what size fuse did you use between the battery and the inverter or did you use a breaker switch if so what size that why I needed your diagram for dummies (newbies like me ) to explain it in simple terms with fuses wires etc and a items list cuz for ppl who Dnt know wats amps and stuff but can follow directions on how to make things like me this is not my field so I leave it to pros like you to explain it as if we where five year olds 😂🤣 so plz be detailed when sending me the items list and diagrams so I Dnt blow myself up 👌🏽🤕😂🤣

Wes That Tech Guy thanks for the reply. I’m from Saipan, part of the Northern Mariana Islands, which is a U.S. territory. We recently got hit with a Category 5 supertyphoon. We won’t have power for months and we are currently running on fuel generators. Fuel is $5.13/gallon and is becoming scarce. Looking for a temporary solution to power up some stuff until power is restored and was looking to try to get the parts ordered by my brother in the mainland ASAP for me to build. The heat is unbearable for my daughter. I appreciate videos like this.

How many solar panels would be needed to run something like this on a pretty regular basis? Im talking like running my 1000 watt heater for about 12 hrs or more a day?
@WesThatTechGuy6 жыл бұрын
This build has a 100ah/1500wh battery pack. So charged it would run your heater for around an hour and a half. you would need about 1200w plus of Solar to run that heater and charge the battery. You can also add more batteries to this setup to increase the run time and or add wind power. With the wind you get the free power at night as with the panels they're only good in the day time.

Yea its a few bucks but will last for 25 years and do as much and more than most gas generators. In the end this is a cheaper way to go when you look at the energy storage, life of the batteries and the power of the inverter.

I could use a inverter. I'm off grid. I have. been thinking of ways to generate power. since I'm off grid. I been charging and testing batteries. for two weeks nonstop. soi can match them into a 1000p 7s bank of 18650 cells. so it will balance easily. keep it up.
@WesThatTechGuy6 жыл бұрын
James sounds like a great build. keep me posted! you do the same
@jamest.50016 жыл бұрын
Wes That Tech Guy I wish I could do what you are. I just like doing stuff like that. I have the time. just not the dime! I'm just trying to get away from the generator. and now it has snowed today.. stopping everything. except I'm still charging batteries! and capacity testing them. I have a wood trunk about 20" by 20" by 36" I plan to fill it with cells. then build another! and do it again. I'd like to run my off grid house. for 48hours without sun. 96+ hours would be awesome! and a load of cells. I don't run that much. I have a gas water heater. and wood heat. no a/c. and use the generator to power the washer and drier also the stove. use all LED lighting. powered from AC and DC. power. with a small bank just for the DC lighting. it could be a start on how future homes can be powered . making most of their own power. but for now I use the generator to charge the lead acid bank. I almost have the parts to speed up my charging and testing. when I get these cf ells in a bank. I will almost double my run time. can't wait to your next video! sorry for rambling!

@WesThatTechGuy6 жыл бұрын
Not a chance. they are not connected to anything metallic and they are directly connected to plastic. I suppose if a person touched a hot and a ground to it, it would become an inductor but I don't think anyone will be doing that.

Cool I wanna would make this to power my gaming system.... then my dad can’t say. TURN THAT THING OFF!! I would make make it so it is charging from a wall plug so it can charge from wall and it’s generator. So I’ll plug my pc and WiFi router in it. So if my power goes out. My WiFi and pc is still ON. So in the middle of gaming I would disconnect and I won’t have to restart my pc

ok it says sims 3000 so that confused me lol. Thought it might be auto correct or something. use a 100a shunt on the negative side and a 100a AnL fuse on the positve side and you'll be fine. what kind of battery pack? Lead acid, lipo, lifepo4? You can use a trickle charger either way as long as the voltages are correct.
