Thank you for the video. What is the thickness of mdf you used? Would 1/2"? work?
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16393 жыл бұрын
Great question, 1/2” will work, it just might take a little more patience to glue everything together and make sure the nails don’t deflect out of the 1/2 “ I usually use 5/8 or 3/4. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

When you sanded it before priming, what grit did you use?
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16393 жыл бұрын
I used 220, just to said the filler from the nail holes and very lightly.

@@idealdirecthomeimprovement1639 Thank you. You motivated me to work on this. I thought you had sanded the whole piece and corners. Good to know just the nail holes.
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16393 жыл бұрын
The posts can out nice because it wasn’t the first ones I built. You might have to sand the corners. When you sand, you sand what you need to sand. I did sand the pieces very lightly. The focus was on the putty from the nail holes

Hey Edward, I've got a basic question. How do you go about ripping that MDF down with the circular saw? Do you use a jig?
@idealdirecthomeimprovement16393 жыл бұрын
When I ripped the rough sizes down I just clamped a straight edge to cut it straight. I have an 8 ft level that I use often and 2 quick grip clamps. I put the straight edge offset according to the saw. I hope this helps. You can also just use the table saw if you have someone that can help you hold the sheet or have the big box store rip it in half or cut it for you. I did this just to make it easier to cut the bevel on the table saw.

A follow up on this same question. I have 8ft pine and when I try to make this bevel cut the wood won’t stay straight against my fance when pushing it through the table saw. But you did not seem to have this problem and I don’t see why. The bevel needs to be perfectly straight or the joints don’t match up. I feel like I almost need to use a long rail and some special attachment to keep the wood straight against the fence as I rip the bevel cut. Any advice would be helpful! Thank you
