Brad.......Outstanding F#$@% Job. Purchased a nelson milk snake last year for our son, got the zoo med 40 gallon starter aquarium. Mad because Bob the snake didn't make it. Lesson learned what not to purchase for snakes. Stores should sell a snake enclosure, just for snakes (Only Snakes)!!! Since HEAT RISES/HUMIDITY RISES and escapes through the top of the tank don't freaking buy it. The tank needs to be fully enclosed on the top, left and right sides and bottom. I'm a carpenter and this video makes me want to build this enclosure without purchasing another snake and then tell the wife (Well, I built the top of the line enclosure, might as well purchase another snake for the kids). She can never say no to the kids....hehehehe. Do not purchase any reptile unless you build this DIY enclosure. You can always build in steps and add on as needed. Once again H##LL of a job. So jealous.

Can you make a video explaining the process of how you make the slots for the glass so it’s held in and able to slide open and closed?
@bradsbioactivebuilds2 жыл бұрын
I can with a future build. But the "slots" is just a glass track I got on Amazon (link at the end of this post). After I have the front frame installed (doubled up pvc board to make it 1" thick). I measure the opening where the glass is going to go before I install the glass track. Then, install the glass track with silicone, holding it in place with painters tape. I take the leftover glass track (I had 1" cut-off) and brought it to a glass shop. Gave them the measurements of the opening and the cutoff glass track. They did all the math (around 1/4" less than opening.) And cut the glass. I used 1/4" tempered glass. Randall Manufacturing 1/4" Plastic Sliding Door Track (Black, 6 FT Long) a.co/hv12IEX

@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I put a lot of work into the videos to try and explain everything to the best of my ability. I'm glad it has helped you move towards building your own. To answer your the sides are 23 1/2". Everything site on top of the bottom panel that measures 6'L x 24"d. So when I put my back panel on it will reduce the side panels by 1/2" (4'h x 23 1/2" deep) to compensate for the 1/2" thickness of the pvc sheet. @@bradsbioactivebuilds sorry, talking more about extra space needed around the enclosure for air flow and accessories. Without the nest box and fogger, it seems like I could put it up against a wall, right? And with vent holes along the front, I wouldn't have to worry about the sides.

By far the best build video. Would u recommend a center support in the front if I were stacking 6x2x2's?
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you. Depends on what you material you are building with (woodbor pvc). If it is pvc, I would recommend center support if shacking. I would build a shelf/stand for top enclosure depending on weight and substrate of the top enclosure. A 3/4 hard wood enclosure you should be able to get by without center support, but that one could go either way. Hope that helps 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

Thank you very much! Anything that size I would frame out with 2x4 or 2x3's. I'm currently building something similar to that size. I actually just uploaded the 2nd video to the series today. But to start check out the 1st video on how to build it. Feel free to ask me some questions on that video and I'll do my best to help! 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱

I’ve watched some of these videos about 4 times each just to look at little intricacies. How many pounds of cork rounds do you think you went through in total for this build and where did you source it? Seems pretty spendy from what I’ve found and then shipping to SoCal is a killer. Also, gonna totally steal the wire in the hose trick. Ingenious!!!
@bradsbioactivebuilds2 ай бұрын
@k9midas1 I believe I ordered 3 or 4 bulk boxes. I also let them know I was trying to build a tree. Message me on IG. I have a wholesaler connect that sells individual pieces at a great rate. You can also pick out your pieces if u let him know what you are looking for. The wire vines work great, and please steal the idea 🤣 Thank for watching! 🤘🦎

@bradsbioactivebuilds26 күн бұрын
@notmybuddyguy477 not to bad in price considering the cost to waterproof wood and pvc would last a lifetime. But plywood could also do the job. Sounds like u have a fun build planned

I'm so bad at planning and have never built anything close to this amazing- what are your recommendations on planning a build like this?? You seem to have thought of everything! I would gladly buy a build plan for a similar encosure from you, you should sell them!!
@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
Thank you, much appreciated. The hardest part is sometimes getting started. But shoot me a message on Instagram, and I'll send you the plans I drew up if I can find them. But it's essentially building a box. The bottom and top is 6x2 Back panel is 6w4h that sits on top of the bottom panel and under the top panel. I used 1/2 thickness material So the side panels were 23.5 inches in depth and 4 foot high. For the frontbi just recessed in the boards .5 inches to give it some character.

Will this build be strong enough for a bioactive milk snake enclosure? (with all the clay balls at the bottom and constant .5" of water plus all the soil, plants and snake?)

If built right yes, just make sure the stand is solid. I have everything you mentioned inside this enclosure. Here is the interior DIY build of the enclosure you commented on. Let me know if you have any other questions. 🤘💯🦎🐸🐍🐢🌱 kzbin.info/www/bejne/jYuWdoyghMSDf7M

Can PVC cement be used
@bradsbioactivebuilds2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it could if you work fast. I would use the clear primer. I thought about doing the seal but it bond quicker then I could drill it. I also thought about ruffing up the seam and using pvc cement on the seam but went with lexel and did a few thin coats of drylok over it. I know guys that have done regular GE1 silicone with success but in my experience in time it has a good chance of it coming undone and and leaking.

@bradsbioactivebuilds Жыл бұрын
It's no harder then cutting wood. Cuts like a warm knife through butter. Jigsaw or circular saw work fine. Just wear a mask bc or fumes at high heat and pvc micro particals. 🤘💯🦎🐍🐢🐸

When you use sliding doors on a snakes enclosure (I have a ball pythons) can they not slide it if they get between the middle part where it over laps? I just made one for my snake & that’s how the doors are but the sides sit more away from the wood so she’ll be able to slide out
