Yes, I think it's really helpful to hear the why and how, not just the what! I love Vicki Boutin's designs and I have the new collection coming my way, so I decided I'd better make room in that drawer! It's definitely a mega kit, but I'm hoping to get at least 15 layouts from it!

Yes! I tend to hoard Vicki Boutin's collections (hate to admit it) because they are so gorgeous, but I'm running out of space in my VB drawer and have Color Study on order! Yes! I'll definitely be scrapping along with Adele this weekend, super excited for her live!

OMG Laura WOW~~~~what a super cool share!! Your Recipe is amazing!! Well you may be shocked but I've never bought a scrapbooking kit....I've bought a Scrapbook Paper kit that has come with papers and a cutapart sheet and a sticker sheet but never have ever bought a kit that comes with oodles of goodies....but I have to say I have fun seeing them when they are presented and am always overwhelmed with everything....and mainly the reason I don't buy kits is because I make the majority of my embellishments and I do, however , use bling and lots of stickels....so I think I will be screen shooting your recipe and give it a go for my own kit and I have an embellishment binder that I keep my created images etc in and also because I mean after all we all really do know pics we have and an idea of where we are going with them even tho there have been many ties I've done an about face and gone in a totally different direction. LOL so thanks a million for your share this was so much fun!! YOU SO ROCK!! Thank you very much, Joan! You're right, these videos take a bit of planning and time, but I think it's worth it! This is a massive kit and you certainly don't need one this big (I'm a bit ambitious this month, lol), but I find it very helpful to work from a kit, even if it's a kit filled with DIY embellishments and paper!

Looks great. I do have a question, do you have photos in mind when you start to build your kits or do you wing it?

I typically only buy collections that coordinate with my photos, so I can wing it. I know the colors that my family wears and what I see in my photos most often, so I stick to collections that will work well with those colors. For example, rarely do I have the color cream in my photos, so I generally stick to white based collections. The only browns I usually have in my photos are very dark brown hair and wood tones, so I tend to avoid browns other than wood grains. I do pull about 10 layouts worth of photos when my kit is complete so that I know exactly what photos I'm going to be scrapping that month and that really helps! I don't spend so much time digging for the perfect photos, I can just sit down and scrap!

Laura, I do not have very much of your items from either of your lists. What can I do to make a kit? I think my problem is not purchasing items to build kits, just purchasing what I like. HELP!!

Ellen, all you really need to build a kit is a handful of papers and embellishments you love! Whatever style you choose should fit your scrapping preferences. Whether that means brads, doilies, and wood veneer or ephemera packs, stickers, and flair. Each of us will have different items, but can recreate the same sort of designs, no worries!
