I've stuck alot of 4" foam on big commercial projects down here in south fla. Some being parex systems and some being Dryvit systems. Some were 1/2" stucco systems. Mesh, polymer base coat (thinset), aquagard, the whole nine. Two applications each system. Somtimes three if the architect really wanted to cover himself. But it's always just a matter of time before moisture and humidity have there way to separate that bond between mud and foam. I'd be pretty skeptical putting that foam in my shower. Especially as the bench. You do nice work though brother. Keep it up.

When making a wide rip where the fence is past the table flip the support arm down, it is built into the fence and is very handy, this will allow you to keep downward pressure on material near the fence providing better control🖒

Just for thought when you run table saw you have to hold on the board on the fence side only if that was plywood you would have a major kick back. I have same table saw. The older one feel it was made better then new ones.. come on Isaac build it out of blocks. I know you are using there products for promo. As always you do great work,keep it up.👊

Isaac Ostrom well, if you use DSLR, those in live view mode had to use slow method, which is based on contrast fluctuation to find the right focus, DSLR can’t use its AF sensor (super fast and accurate) as it works in conjunction with mirror, which is unavailable with live view. It makes more sense to use action camera If you do a lot of close up shots in cramped spaces (like bathroom). I don’t say that DSLR has no use, but genre of how to videos implies a lot of close up, which in case of DSLR needs prestage work to get quality picture.
@BlahBlahManYeah
@BlahBlahManYeah 5 жыл бұрын
Isaac Ostrom , yes, something like YI+ or last generation GoPro with gimbal will be much more suitable setup. For instance, the scene where you demoing assemble of shower bench, your head is cut-off most of scenes as you hitting limits of 18mm (the max zoom out of your lenses), which in reality of 80D crop factor, that has no full frame sensor, turns into 35mm. My understanding you went with 2.8f to cope with low light. Something like YI 4K series or recent generations of GoPro are decent in low light and better suited for this type of action, also fraction of your setup cost. Yes, those don’t have zoom, so cameraman has to move more for zoom in/zoom outs. DSLR lessens with big opening shines with DOF effect, and less distortion which would work better in prestaged setup, like talking sessions.

I wanted to see how you water proofed it. I am doing something similar. You mentioned using Kerti band. I believe this to be 5.5" wide but the board is 2" thick. So, how is the 2" over lap achieved? Then what is the purpose of the fleece? Not a lot sticks to polyethylene.

Nice work man! You gave me some spine chills when I saw the table saw and your hands so close (kind of like watching a horror movie), although I was a finish carpenter for 12 years. It’s one thing when you’re doing it, and completely different when you’re watching someone else doing exact same thing. Have you tried cutting Kerdi boars with a jigsaw? Just curious. You could probably do all kinds of curves and bends, wrap it in some mosaic, and viola!

ok so nowhere can i find in your comments section anything clarifying the slope going back toward the wall rather than the top of the bench sloping toward the shower floor. I saw your level left and right across the bench it was dead on but when you placed the level from wall toward front of bench your wall end was lower than the front end. Thus the water is flowing the wrong way. what gives. Did you correct that??

ok just looked at it again, Iwas backwards, but I do have another question, when you put thinset on the walls for the two upright support panels and also the front and side panels, you don't butter the wall for the top panel. Is there a reason for this omission?

They do have us. But overall, all tools included, dewalt is on top. Sure bosch has better roto hammers, sure makita has a better 10 compound miter, and sure hilti has better impact drills. But over all dewalt is one of the best. I will buy a dewalt impact for $110 vs $600 from hilti. I have owned makita 18v tools and Milwaukee 18v along with another brand. My dewalt stuff is clearly better. I have had multiple use my dewalt tools and go out and buy them once their current tools wore out. I hated jumping on the dewalt bandwagon. Btw, the dewalt tile saw is awesome with all its features. But it isn't heavy duty. I will probably not buy another one. But it would be nice if they beefed it up a bunch. Benefits are much lighter, quicker start to finish, easier to cut, and mostly waterproofed...just needs some banding. I think material cost is the biggest negative, but when you factor your time and wear and tear on the body, I believe you come out ahead going the foam route. Thoughts?
