Excellent video - so happy you decided to install ventilation. I know it wasn't just an afterthought - I too was trying to figure if I could find a legit way around it, but as I plan my build later this year, I know it can be done and your video is very helpful.

Another great video, thanks Wilson. Can you position the baffle boxes both vertical or horizontal? . Does the in/out holes for intake and exhaust need to be specifically at top or bottom or each box? The reason I ask is I’m looking to place mine differently to yours but (of course) want to keep the same dimensions & effectiveness. Thanks.

They can go horizonatal or vertical. And the intake and out take really doesn't matter too much just try to keep them as far away as possible. You could also place them close to your mini split or ac ventilation to mix with the incoming cool or hot air. This will be more efficient over all.

Great video! Does it matter if the baffles are inside or outside the room?

No they can go on either side

Great video! For your air LEAVING the studio, did you connect it right back to the AC unit, or just vent it out into an ajoining room? Also, was the vent for the stale air LEAVING located on the ground (!6:22 on your video) , or high up, and does it matter which? I finished my basement studio and only factored in the AC coming IN, and nothing to vent out the stale air, so i'm trying to figure out the best option. Obviously opening doors/windows where possible helps but would be great to have proper circulation.

@kevintye hey! I have another video all about ventilation. I personally think using an ERV and sending fresh air in and pulling stale air out is the best way to go. The air is pulled from the outside and the stale air is vented to the outside. Best of luck!!

Did you decide to puncture your drywall in order to ventilate out to another room? I am mid build and only have two HVAC outputs into my studio space, the intake/return is right outside of the room. I’m not doing eight hour studio sessions, I figure I can just crack the door every hour or so, and generally keep it open when I don’t need the soundproofing. However… It’s got me thinking whether I should at least put a Box between my double wall just in case I need it in the future…

The thing I never see addressed in any video about these is how do you push air through the system? Do you use some kind of in-line duct fan?

You can I like using ERV or HRVs

If i don't have a ventilation system, can I just build a baffle box for air to circulate between my music room and the rest of the house? Like an air vent between the soundproofed room to the other side of the wall, but with a baffle box. Would that negate the whole soundproofing efforts?
@soundproofyourstudio11 ай бұрын
No, in fact it is a very reasonable approach. I always like the idea of a balanced system so in and out boxes rather than one out.

@@soundproofyourstudio more precisely, I'm thinking about maybe having two vents/baffles, an intake and exhaust, and using something like bathroom fans to help force air in and out, i.e., a poor man's ventilation system. Basically, I just want the air to not become stale in the room while still having the soundproofing

Hi, One thing that’s unclear is Rod’s blueprint shows a 6” opening at both ends of the box, yet you have the large 12” square opening at one end. Was that a modification on your part? Thanks

Hi, i built one like yours but with only 2 devider, it has humming sound came through the flex duct.. what coz it?
@soundproofyourstudio Жыл бұрын
hey sorry to hear it is not working. When you say two dividers do you mean the turns in the baffle box? I'm not sure what could cause the humming without getting some more info. You could always jump on a coaching call. best of luck!

Oh man, that sounds horrible. Did you end up fixing it? Maybe your connection slipped loose when you put the box in?

Would rockwool work instead of the r300 duct liner?
@soundproofyourstudio Жыл бұрын
Just use duct liner. You don’t want to breathe fiberglass
