Noticing something with some of your vids: It seems like you have no problem admitting to mistakes you make.....that can be a tough thing for some people-- but good on you for letting us see your step-by-step videos, and including your minor mistakes and set backs in them (you could've easily edited them out). It makes you human, and it makes it easier for US to relate to you. ...and I REALLY want to find that "Speaker Box Maker" program...that thing is pretty rad.

Hey EXO! I've been a huge fan for quite a long time, from before the beard with the original crazy van to Frankie and little blue, you're a great generous person making boxes and helping your sister and girlfriends with having such experience with what you do. Keep up the updates I want to see what becomes of little blue and don't forget Frankie! Where I'm from there is only one bass head I know and he lives dang far so I'm hoping to contribute to the bass head population soon! I've got a nice build coming along but it's on a tight budget, two years in the making but I'm excited to finally be able to get it plugging along, it's nothing like Frankie but her name is Medusa and I'm hoping she will make hair tricks on 7200 watts and 4 12's but who knows, I know JP and Bassman so if you find yourself in the Seattle area anytime I'd be glad to give a demo! I dig the "Fisher Price" port dude, you had an original idea, and that's dope. Next time, for me though, spray the screws too please and let 'em set over night, maybe with a couple quick coats of clear to cure and you won't scratch 'em up when you screw 'em in. Then you'll go from dope to DOPE AF in my book ... 👈 and over there, you can see I dig that ... and your enthusiasm is pretty fuckin RAD dude! I don't even know how I got here ... I had some hot rod videos playing in the background while I was painting some of my own "Fisher Price" stuff like I do every day. I dig the sound of big blocks, super chargers, and twin turbos, but I ended up here. Since I built my first Isobaric chamber with 2 10's in 91 when I got my new GTI with all thrift store and Radio Shack parts that hit 41, I had to check this out for a bit. A buddy and I had a bet who could make the best system for the cheapest amount without any giveaways, I guess because were idiots, but it was fun. So thanks for this, I'm sure it's been out a while now, but I still dig it. I hope you're still building, it's kinda who you are, at least I think. What the hell do I know though? I still think it was badass!! ✌️

Never understood why so many people use screws rather than nails when the box is glued together
@SourceMan8087 жыл бұрын
the intense vibration will loosen the nails. Screws offer a more secure solution.
@RWL20127 жыл бұрын
Xenji interesting, i've never had a problem with using nails but maybe it depends how powerful the subwoofer that's in the box is...?
@SourceMan8087 жыл бұрын
RWL2012 yes the overall power would make a difference. however, it's a good practice to use good quality wood screws with lock nuts as well to bind into the wood to ensure optimal sealing and tightness
@hakont.49606 жыл бұрын
No need for clamps when using screws, the screws will clamp everything together tightly. It's also easier to quickly disassemble something before the glue sets if you made a mistake. Nothing wrong with using nails though, one should use what you find the most convenient.

Dude, I was basically watching this because I wanted to see how you made the speaker opening, and I can't believe that I've never thought of that method before. I have made quite a few speaker boxes and I just made one for some cheap Pyle DVC 8 inch woofers and it sounds great, but my speaker openings look like they were cut by a 4 year old because I set the speakers upside down, traced the outline, marked it half an inch inside, and the only saw I had (I bought a jigsaw since) was a sawzall, so I made due with what I had. This box is night and day from my shitty box. I used 3/4 MDF and wood glue for the seams, but I don't have any damn saw horses or a table saw so once again, I made due with what I had. Oh well, it sounds good for a set of shitty 8s, and the shitty cuts will be covered by the carpet. Live and learn...
