Another nice build. Great instructional video with with nice tips! Also nice to see some many helpers involved on the project. (side note. If they havent deliverred the package, should I fought to have it shipped back. It is still valuable mics worth saving)

well if i had your coffee cup i could make toy boxes like that!! seriously though that is a great design and i wish your video was out when i mad a friend a toy box a year or two ago. it took me ages i went way over budget making no money and still wasnt happy with the top close method. the soft close hinge you got was great. My friend was happy though which was the main thing.

@@karlpopewoodcraft for sure i used blum soft close hinges like you would use in a kitchen cupboard and ended up routing out a load of weight out of the 18mm ply wood top. should have just used pine and it would have been way lighter at the start.

@@AndrewMcQuillen ye those hinges don't have the strength especially with such a short reach. Its all a learning curve isn't it making things.

Just found your channel, I am an ex welder/fabricator but trying to learn more about wood so this is fantastic. You sound like a Hull lad (I originate from Hull) so I understand every word you say makes me feel homesick. I was mates with a lad called Robert Pope as a kid, think he became a carpenter also. Anyway good luck with the channel, very professional and well presented.

Hi Martin, that's awesome cheers mate. Where abouts in Hull are you from? Weird thing is my Dad is called Robert Pope 🤔 he's a painter though I believe. I don't see him you see so can't confirm.

@@karlpopewoodcraft I was brought up down Talbot street off Wright street which was in the City center think the Pope family lived in the next street off the same road. I am 65 now and think Robert was same sort of age he also had older brothers, going back to the sixties now.

Haha did I do it in inches again, I've been making a conscious effort to use mm as it's more accurate, but sometimes I revert back to 1980 as I did inches at primary school then mm talk about confusing me😂

Thanks mate that's really kind of you to say, the workshop is like a massive craft space so the kids enjoy it, and as long as their safe thar great. I got sent the flappy paddle from a subscriber the same person who sent Keith his but I bought my saw new unfortunately lol its a good saw though.

Great job on the project, I'd love to see any other tips for installing those soft close hinges. Like the spacing from the rear, how far up the carcass, lid well you get the idea.. what were your problems as you said you had trouble

Just discovered your channel yesterday and it's great. A new sub. Which pocket hole jig do you use? Drawing up plans for an outside dining table, what finishes do you recommend for protection?

Hi Andrew, I use the Kreg master system pocket hole jig and as far as finish on a external project, depending on the type of wood you use and finish your wanting. If you use teak then teak oil is great. If you are using pine I'd buy treated timber and paint with an exterior paint or varnish.

You as bad as me... this is 90 cm long and we are going to put the screws in 2 inches from here and 6.5 inches from here.. metric to imperial and no doubt back again. love the box bud. Can you stop reading my plans in my head of things i need to make.
