I've designed and 3D printed a platform to hold the dude's cab, 3 Walters, 2 mos8 and 3 mosLight. Could be modified for whatever your needs are. If you're looking for mounting options for Arnoz boards and are interested let me know. Heat press inserts for the dude cab to use m3 PCB vibration isolators and also vibration isolating feet on the platform. I'm still wiring everything so not sure how well the isolation works yet. I went with mostly arno boards and CSD solenoids, LEDs, shaker motor, knocker. Also 3D printed a teencab/voltboard setup to allow for easier wiring to each channel directly from power/data source. Rebuilding a cabinet I bought with all new guts, play field pivot, etc. Your series has been invaluable. Haven't read all the comments but I expect others have handy mounting approaches as well.

Pretty sure you just described my exact thoughts for a future (first) build - flat pack, Cleveland software, Arnoz board, etc. So I’m super excited to see your upcoming series. One potential ask/request (and I’m thinking it could be a difficult one if you tackle it) - I’m interested in using actual flipper assemblies in a cabinet, but there’s very little out there with specifics on wiring etc. I know most run at 48v, but I’m curious if you can install on 24v the same as a knocker. Again, I have ZERO experience, but (selfishly) I would LOVE to see you try and tackle that 😊.
@wayofthewrench4 ай бұрын
Yeah it should be an awesome build! I'm pretty stoked to start this build. I'm planning on using Cleveland Software solenoids kit for the flippers but I might ask Marco Specialties to supply real flipper mechs and a 48v power supply to try them out later. I decided to go solenoids because most people will want a less maintenance and less cost method for real mech sounds. Thanks for the watch and enjoy the series!

I’m excited to watch the journey. Your video series is the gold standard on how to build a cab from scratch. I’m soon going to embark on this myself but dedicated to VR. While I like flashy lights and everything that goes with a traditional vpin, VR is a completely different experience and I prefer it.

@@wayofthewrench Careful, you might never return after playing in VR ; )
@stevetb77775 ай бұрын
VR is super cool but... it's a one-person experience. I want a vpin in my man cave because it's a visual spectacle and multiple people can enjoy it. I have hopes for the future - 4K 3D glasses free 3D display + head tracking. Then your vpin is fully 3D like the real deal, you can see it in 3D from any angle like VR. I would tolerate glasses is there were any modern 3D TVs. I actually did play with this head tracking software some guy made for vpins, it actually is really cool but you really need 3D for it to make sense. If it had more setting adjustments it would work pretty well even in 2D. The playing field floor moves too far in proportion to the other objects in 2D, or you close one eye and it looks great. I reached out to the author long ago and never heard back. I really could enjoy this head tracking in 2D using an xbox kinect2 if I could just adjust that setting. Not as cool as 3D BUT.. still VERY cool. The playfield perspective changes to match where you are looking, sort of like a flat VR experience. It actually looks quasi 3D with one eye closed, but that's annoying to do. I don't understand the science.
@stevetb77775 ай бұрын
Another thing is.. one could totally build a vpin AND mount a VR headset as a pull-down from the ceiling (or use a wireless headset).. so you could actually have BOTH options. VR isn't going to give you the playfield feedback you can get from a VPIN and the transducers, but if you have a hybrid setup that would be the best of both worlds, for now! You could get the virtual physical feedback of a vpin in VR. That might be what I do.

I am going with a 42" so I can use a widebody flatpack which will be a loose fit and have room for aled strips and a matrix. I will put a 48" OLED in my totan cabinet later. I could never find a good concaved LED button, ideally either with a leaf switch or a MX Silver switch, but I'll try some from Groovy Game Gear - I had never heard of them and on paper it looks good, so thanks for that! I really enjoy your style of video, so I'm really looking forward to this new series. Since you had previously asked for content suggestions, I have a few to consider: *LED-Wiz - overview, configure/use *Network game management - since you'll have two cabinets, using one machine or a NAS to store all the tables, PUP files, etc. (shared high scores should work?) *Creating your own DOF effects - I know you mentioned the possibility of looking into this, but perhaps not a lot of people would be interested in coding aspect *Setting table POV, applying to all other tables *Jukebox setup - there's been a lot of talk about this one recently, but people are having a hard time finding resources and downloads * Tables you recommend - maybe even just give us one table suggestion per video (I only recently got around to Batman '66 and it is awesome with DOF lighting)

Me too! Yes sir, I've got a bunch of stuff from Philip including some brand spanking new stuff! You'll have to keep your eyes peeled. Thanks for the watch!

This is exactly what i was hoping you would do! Im going to buy all my gear from cleveland software. Im also going LG c2 oled but with pindmd3 as the newer games i will just have it display the video DMD on the backglass. i love the older tables more as they been recreated the best from VPW. Also what i will do differently than what you did is those lights is very distracting on the play field. My cabinet RGB strips will both be underneath my table. if the table has a color it will show and the effect rails will be underneath as to not flash in my eyes and on the playfield and give more a emmersion than blinding eyes haha. id like my speakers effects activated aswell and maybe clevelands light bar as a topper.

Perfect! Yeah a whole new cab with lots of new info/parts/techniques! Sounds like you have a good plan! Yeah I know some people don't like the LEDs in their face but I kinda like it flashy, you could always put in a switch to shut it off like Zi did or find a different way to light up.....I have ideas. Thanks for the watch!

Let's Go! Can't wait to watch this build. Did I here "HD" matrix? I didn't know that was a vpin thing.....
@wayofthewrench5 ай бұрын
Yup a HD matrix is just a denser matrix with more LEDs. These ones are going to be 16 x 16 panels which will also allow me to play with the new HD matrix patterns. Thanks for the watch and your support for the channel! Cheers!

You're welcome and you're an excellent teacher. I love my vpin and I credit you videos for helping to make it a work of art. I'm looking into my final upgrade now. A 4k 120hz or 144hz monitor. Everything else is already there.

Cheers! I appreciate your kind words as I work hard to teach people how to do stuff including how to look after each other. At the end of the day, I'll be happy if I made others happy. You upgrading to a LG OLED?

Hi Dr J why are the next 3 videos private?
@wayofthewrenchАй бұрын
To build anticipation....lol. no I have them there while I finish editing and then release them when they are scheduled to be viewable every two weeks. I like to build a buffer for myself as these videos take a lot of work to make them awesome. Thanks again for your support!

very bad idea to use oled, i have burn-in on my third oled screen already, this technology is completely useless with static picture
@wayofthewrench5 ай бұрын
Hrmmmm, that's not what I've heard from people running these for over a year. I will be addressing this issue and talking about good methods to have the anti burn in cleaning process happen as automatically as possible. Thanks for the heads up though, it's a real issue. Cheers!

@@wayofthewrench if i'll have a chance to build my full size pincab i will use nanocell full array backlight. I think that the microLED is the future of the screens , but this technology is still to expensive.
@wayofthewrench4 ай бұрын
That's the thing about technology....it always gets better so it's more how much you can afford. i can't wait to see when the tech catches up and it is exactly like real pinball.
