I can see you falling in love with that router table... The profile of bits is just endless 😂👌. Treat yourself to a pilot countersink bit (if you don't have 1 Stuart).. Handier than having to swap out 2 different bits, you well deserve it 👍

Lovely little project. Worth putting some felt or rubber floor protectors on the feet if used indoors. Ply edging is great at cutting up flooring finishes, the tiny amount of compliance in them also gives a bit of wiggle room if your legs or the floor aren't perfectly level!

You should invest in the Dewalt DCD887 impact driver it has 3 modes on it one of them is for precision screwing will save you using a hand screwdriver all the time. Highly recommend it.

Stuart, what is the name/make of the screw holder bit that you use on your impact driver? Thanks.
@Spoonychief2 жыл бұрын
Great project as always. Can I maybe suggest it might be helpful for a few more pointers for us novice DIY'ers like, what grit sandpaper, size screws (screw types, names, uses is a real minefield when you don't really know what you are looking for) the name of the bit which holds the screw on your impact driver, finally what is the tape measure you use? having cm's on both sides would be a lot more useful than the one I currently own.
@Ginwood2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that the Advent Vice Versa Tape Measure Stuart is using there. Keep meaning to get one myself

Good to see the first outing of the table router, looks like it's working like a dream. Are you happy to changed the position to the end of the table rather than in the centre?
@ProperDIY2 жыл бұрын
Yes for sure Simon - it feels right to work at the end and also when I'm working on non router stuff it's out of the way of the main bench.

Great video as usual. Would there be any disadvantage in using MDF?
@georgepritchard30102 жыл бұрын
Hi David in short there are good be reasons not to use MDF. A construction of this design would be likely to break.. Because of the way plywood is constructed with the of each layer running at 90 degrees to the next it stands up to stresses extremely well. The main force on the stool is compression force on the legs as you sit on it. MDF will cope with that reasonably well. BUT you also will have a rotational force as you shift you weight around. I am certain that is where MDF would fail. If you were on a tight budget you could use MDF for the seat, but I would steer away from MDF for the legs and use ply.
@davidthoms5142 жыл бұрын
@@georgepritchard3010 Thanks George, that's useful information. I'm glad I asked.

What would be the harm of a bit gap between the top and bottom slit of the legs? It does not need to be that precise.
@ProperDIY2 жыл бұрын
If there is a gap or play between the 2 then it will tend to twist when you move on the stool

@ProperDIY2 жыл бұрын
Structurally it doesn't matter but I prefer it to be cut literally in quarters rather than 4 strips in a row. That way the exposed grain is running up the legs
