How to Build an FM Radio from a kit

This is the Conrad FM Radio kit. It takes about an hour to assemble, and its great fun.

The packaging becomes the case, and it is quite substantial. There are magnets encased in the artwork to give a nice snap when closing the lid.

I was inspired to buy this kit by a radio design biscuit tin I was given at Christmas. I just finished building the radio and mounting it into the tin rather than the cardboard case provided. I have never soldered a PCB before and found the instruction book combined with the video brilliant. The radio played first time and sounds really good. Thanks Andrew Mallinson.

Ali express has radio kits very cheap ,from a 1.48 to ten dollars ,and most kits you buy at eBay or Ali exress have no directions ,but you can find someone has made a you tube video on how to assemble ,and for you beginners ,there are many videos on how to solder and how to tin your soldering pen,etc.

Haynes Retro Radio is almost identical. Great little kits. Pay anywhere from £4 (ebay) upwards

0.31 or about 8mm for electronic soldering ,make sure it is lead solder or you won't be happy ,60/40 or 37/63 lead solder ,buy good solder kester brand is the best I have found in 50 years of soldering, buy extra flux it cheap ,

60 lbs or $74.00. cost for what is gotten, a bit much. The channel ind., what channel ind? There could be a station ind. Just a round station ind label about the tuning knob with some frequency marked off, and you be set to go. What the point of this item when anyone can go about and buy an AM/FM pocket radio for less. The ease of assembly is great.

Your roll of tape is louder then you are, need to speak up slightly as I had to max my volume to hear you then cringe with each rip of tape... otherwise awesome vid
