hey, just started watching your videos three days ago since i started upgrading bits and pieces of my computer ( out of necessity) and i just wanted to say you are amazing. a video like this is really pushing me towards building my own computer soon and this specifct build looks perfect for me. after only a week of looking up things on my own i pretty much understood everything you explained in the video and you left just enough out where i could learn some things on my own while building it. keep up the great work. Thanks again.

Very detailed assembly, good for beginners! Nice to see how everything fits in such a slim space. Btw, is it a bad idea to put your PC/Console on a subwoofer? Vibrations, magnets etc? Even without a mechanical HDD? (just curious, unless it was just for demo and install, if so then nvm)

Pro tip, connect front io cables before other cables since they're the most tedious so the more open space the better. Also don't place pc on top of a speaker, which kind of looks like what happened at the end, though I could be wrong from the video you still don't want to do that.
@GregSalazar
@GregSalazar 8 жыл бұрын
Yep, had to unplug the 24 pin to properly secure the small leads. I placed the PC on top of the speaker for comparison's sake. Not the permanent resting place.

I feel like overclocking an i5 6400 non-k is not worth it. I *think* you would have to downgrade your bios and turbo boost will be disable. Additionally, the extra power from overclocking doesn't make much of a difference in gaming in terms of fps. Not to mention the risk that is involved, the more expensive z170 motherboard, a aftermarket cooler(although some people still buy an aftermarket even if it's a non-k), and you would also have to mess around with you dram. *What do you think Greg?* =)
@GregSalazar
@GregSalazar 8 жыл бұрын
I've done it several times. Either stay at 3.2GHz or overclock to 4.4GHz and lose something you'd likely never use anyway (your iGPU).

I actually have a i5 6600 non-k( got it on sale) and a z170 motherboard, I was planning to overclock it too. Can you tell me if the extra processing power really makes a difference? I've been getting a mixed opinion on the fourms. Thanks!

I disagree on some picks. I would prefer an I5 6500 which in my opinion is the sweet spot for gaming (clockwise), and pick a less expensive mobo. Z170 chipset in ITX form factor is a bit overkill and pointless if you consider you won't overclock and you won't use more than two ram modules also sli/crossfire isn't possible in this form factor. If you just need the raid option you can easily go for an h170 chipset and if you want to keep things simpler you can just get an h110 and save a considerable amount of money for a better vga. Also RX 480 or 470 makes more sense to me but this may be just personal preference.
@GregSalazar
@GregSalazar 8 жыл бұрын
We are overclocking using BCLK method. Your first point is moot.
@EonTheReal
@EonTheReal 8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I missed the part you said that at the start, on this case I would also pick the 6400 just to save money. But if anyone wouldn't overclock the 6500 with a cheaper chipset would be a more valid choice.

Great video. I've some old parts from my preview setup and I've been thinking in doing something like this. Btw, I'd say a modular power supply would've been better in order to avoid all cables resting arround the motherboard. It makes the airflow more fluent as you already know.

I like that console looking case. Very neat. I wonder if a hole was cut out and a filter applied, I'd be able to use a non reference card in there.

Hey you guys forgot the 3 screws for the riser card from the pcie slot. This will support the video card and put less stress on the motherboard. No data on the results? I was thinking of getting the same 1060 for my build. I used a spare I5 6500 which runs at 3.2ghz and Turbo at 3.6 - I would recommend the small price difference with this but significantly better performance. Good video

Just bought the NZXT Manta a few weeks ago and I can tell you, it's really good for a ITX Case. Well slightly bigger than normal itx but at least you don't have any compromises with that case. Would be a good thing to make a review of that and show it to the world :P

nice build...but I have 2 things to say.... 1st. there are 3 crewholes in the PCIe risercard that are there to screwit in 2nd there is a little thing over the graphicscard that is there to put it under the card to protrect is from bending inside the case

I built a PC in July using this Fractal Design Node 202. I won't recommend anyone, expert and amateur alike, to build in this case. It's a difficult case to disassemble and is still too large and heavy to be considered portable. Better choice would have been the Fractal Design Core 500, Sharkoon QB One, or (if your graphics card is less than 280 mm/ 10.5 inches long) the Silverstone Sugo SG13BQ. I used the SG13BQ for an MSI GTX 970 (279 mm long) and just barely fit with some squeezing. Card works perfectly and I'm typing this on the PC that used to be in the Node 202. It's only 2.43 kg compared to the Node 202's 3.5 kg. It's a lot easier to fit the Sugo in a carry-on luggage bag than the Node as well, due to it's shorter dimensions.

i love itx builds, my own has a 1070, 4790k, and 16 gb of ram in the RV01 the only thing is the removal of SLI or other feature which i want on my next build unless there is a small case that can fit m.ss or duel card.

You could've saved a buck here and there, but in general it is a nice build. It's always nice to see someone making ITX builds for the living room. Also, that case looks really cool. I wouldn't a PC these days, though. GPU prices are way too inflated and Zen is just around the corner.

Hey Greg, great video! Love the channel! I'm sure you've got a list of things you're planning to do videos on but I'd love to see one benchmarking games with different speeds of DDR4 (2133 up to 4000+). Saw a top post on the PCMR subreddit that made me question the old adage that faster RAM doesn't do much for in-game performance. (Also in my own tests I got a ~12% bump in average FPS going from 2133 to 3000Mhz DDR4 in Overwatch on a 980). Keep up the great work!

Nice video. Love small builds like this for an HTPC, but what about a space-saving build that doesn't "blend in" like this one does in the black and boring Node 202? What about a space saving build that you can show off, like a wall-mounted rig with water cooling and all? Have you considered building one of those?

If you reply, is this PC still a choice to use compare to 2017? My budget is around 900-1000 (buying a gaming laptop next) this is so far the best PC build guide I've seen here on KZbin.

Nice build! I wonder: These newer ITX cases with support for full-size graphics cards often feature a completely separate compartment for the graphics card. One benefit often cited for blower-style coolers is that the ambient temperature inside the case stays lower. Makes sense, but: Does this really matter with a case design like this where the GPU is pretty much completely separated from the rest of the system? Since "open" coolers are often said to be more efficient and quiet it would be interesting to see how these two cooler styles actually fare in a case like this.
