Made 6 farmhouse tables for my wedding last summer plus a coffee table/bench. Dimensions: 6' x 3'-4", Made them a tad shorter in length but used seven boards instead of six, wider to fit a large cutting board with a large piece of lamb, family style. Thank sir for this video, I saved thousands of dollars in renting fees for a 3 day weekend wedding. Took me about 4 weeks to make plus stain and seal while also preparing a wedding of 50 guests, everything made by ourselves. Five of the tables I sold to friends after the wedding, kept one plus the coffee/bench. Never crafted a table before in my life, lots of fun! Pictures here:

With treated wood, you need to let the lumber dry before staining. In Midwest we typically wait anywhere from 3-6months to a year to let dry and then stain (Mainly that comment is from working with decks, not tables) :)

I'm new to woodworking and some of the videos I've seen say to leave a small gap between the outdoor wood. Such as the tabletop or the backs of the Adirondack style chairs, etc so the wood can expand and contract. Just curious why you didn't do that and if you think it's not necessary in this build. Thanks and great job on the table
@AGlimpseInside Жыл бұрын
I’m actually answering this question having lunch on this very table with my daughter. Small world. There is at least an eighth of an inch in a quarter of an inch gap in this material as pressure treated lumber always shrinks. It’s best but these joints up, and let nature take its course with the shrinkage.

@amaraamar9031 Жыл бұрын
Installed these on a riding mower kzbin.infoUgkxetgfkJxfdT_B2vGYP-uNTLaBbim9OKTD . They were sharp out of the box, although I've never liked blade edges that were coated...not quite as sharp as I personally want. Using my belt sander, I removed the coating from the cutting edges and refined the edge enough to shave with them. So far, after three runs, these blades are holding up as expected. Even after hitting a few fallen 1/2 inch or so branches, the edges are still sharp as heck. No edge dings, no warping, etc. As far as installing them, the cutouts were of the proper size and shape to fit my aging Craftsman mower. Very satisfied.
