Hey man ! Great vid on how to get started with kibana. I have a question here though. Suppose if i want real time updates on my dashboard how can we make that possible since in this example lets say the covid cases will vary every day so is there any way to project real time updates to the dashboard ?

Hi Biswajit, I am glad you liked it. Apologies for responding so late. To get the real time update all you need to do is to find the proper source/input. for e.g. you may get the csv file updated using any scripts etc. (Very similar to how application logs are appended). or you can have it exactly like a log file where an app/program writes the updates for each country/city etc. once you configure the logstash input, it will keep sending the updates to elasticsearch and you will have the real time data updated in kibana dashboard. you can set the refresh time for dashboard as per your need. If you still need help, you can write me an email kumarmit@gmail.com

Hi great video... when a new field is added to the existing index (see a new modelID appeared), auto-create those fields to existing dashboard/visualization or create new one to match the fields in the log, pick up new fields when they appear. What is the ideal solution for this scenario... Please help me

Thank you, first of all to add a new field to an existing index, ideal way is to use PUT api. For visualization it really depends how u want to display/map a particular field value. Usually in a visualization u map and apply aggregation on one or more particular field so in that case u will hv to update the visualization manually.

When you ran the logstash with the config file, how it starts pushing the data to kibana? Could you please explain? Do I have to do some linking between the logstash and Kibana on my end for the same?
@cloudykube82683 жыл бұрын
Hi, logstash start pushing the data to elasticsearch and elastic search creates the index defined in logstash config file. Kibana uses elasticsearch index to show the data in UI. You can watch my other video where I have explained how to setup elasticsearch and logstash.

hey! Thank you for the quick response´. I will watch other videos as well. One more question, what if I do not have Ubuntu terminal with me? Can I run the same in SecureCRT?
@cloudykube82683 жыл бұрын
ELK stack works fine on windows as well. Its just a different installation steps. If you have remote ubuntu VM and u use securecrt to connect to it then it will be same as per my instruction.
