How to Build Kitchen Cabinets with Shaker Style Doors

Part 1. How to build kitchen cabinets. Custom cabinetry for kitchen remodel. Cabinets are constructed of prefinished birch plywood. Doors are a maple Shaker style with a white lacquer spray finish. Drawers are solid maple with dovetail joinery. Also made walnut Shaker style wainscot panels for the kitchen island/peninsula. Hardware for drawers was Blum tandem guides as well as Blum full overlay hinges.

My first instinct is to say "Hey that's cheating" when you use your CNC machine, but if there's one thing I've learned about woodworking it's that you need to use whatever tools do the best job. It's not cheating to use a CNC because not only is that an amazing tool for this, but you still had to do all of the computer work to draw everything up, not to mention build the CNC in the first place. And even buying the drawers falls into the other important item as a woodworker, Knowing when to pick your battles! If someone can do an amazing job like they did with those drawers it just makes sense to use them and spend your time working on the easy stuff. Beautiful work, can't wait to see the next video of how the rest turns out.

I used to think a lot of it was "cheating", but when the drawers cost me almost the same to have made as my material cost it doesn't make sense to build yourself. Plus they stand behind them and it saves a boat load of time. I know the CNC looks easy, but I spent 4 full days designing in the CAD software. I already have the satisfaction of knowing I can and have done all of this manually in the past. This was a semi production project. When it comes to heirloom and more custom projects, I am all about the more manual "craftsman" type approach. Thanks for the comments.

If your first thought was "CNC was cheating", how about the pre-made drawers!... ROFL Very well done though and nicely sourced. Having just finished my entire kitchen with face frame and raised panel oak doors (taking a few months to do it), I can understand using the best tools for the money and time. Especially us old guys... we only have so much time left to get stuff done... ROFL! Old Guy's work is very well thought out and the CNC is just another tool in the shop. Well Done!
