I typically use a sort of crib bench on my builds too. It works well on my terrain and soils in my area.

@@RAWAdventuresMTB we are in Missouri. A lot of our area is pretty rocky, but my land that I am building on isn’t rocky. If you have time, take a look our videos. We have several builds and a bunch of ride videos.

How about sandbags on a crib bench? I'm building in an area without suitable rocks or lumber.
@RAWAdventuresMTB3 жыл бұрын
Never done that before. I'm sure some people do that because sandbags can compact and become rock solid. The problem would be that the bags would break over time and eventually you will just be left with dirt which doesn't make for a very strong bench. I'm sure there are some types of bags out there that last nearly forever though, I just don't know of any

@@RAWAdventuresMTB my soil has very high clay content and is rather rocky, it's just small rocks. My want for the bags is almost more to hold the shape until it will finally rain (this is socal) and the soil can really solidly. After that I don't think the bags themselves will really be needed assuming the slope isn't too crazy. I was actually thinking of going with burlap (which breakdown quick) as that's less concerning to the land owner. I suppose this would ultimate be a half bench. I'll have to think about it more...
