Wow, I have done almost exactly as you did. I've been very sickly and am 77 years old. I decided to go "all in" and exercise my way to health. I had a lot of muscle wasting and was told that was "old age". I go to a health center and lift machine weights every day. I have far exceeded my goals and do better than almost anyone else in the morning routine. (all ages) I've had others come up. to me and tell me they can't believe my strength. My arm muscles have at least tripled in size. It seems to be magic. All my friends think I am nuts. For me it was a do or die thing. I had to find out if what I wanted to do, could be done. When you talked of the Ninja, I had to laugh. Those plastic containers scar up from grapefruit and ice cubes. Anyway . . . . . You have done a fine job of getting to the heart of the situation. I don't think many could do what you have done. I see most people do reps on a few machines and not exert their muscles and wonder why they are not getting more fit. They enter all their info on their cell phones and drop out in a couple of months. I don't need to keep exact track of my exercises, my body knows more than any "cell phone". This is the best informational video I have ever seen on KZbin. Thanks!

Thx I'm 64 I never about my weight just how I feel which is weak unsteady on my legs almost like drunk. I'm starting by squats & indoor bike. In a week I'll start using my total gym. I'm motivated by you. I either do this or I'm dead

It helps more to eat a 100% whole foods plant based diet. But it is best to do both but if one had to choose, the 100% plant based diet would be the choice.

So absolutely refreshing to see a woman I can relate with in age, purpose, peri menopause issues, and life experiences. Nothing against the high metabolism 20 something’s on social media, but they cannot relate to us women who have more on our shoulders, trying to keep our optimal health as priority amongst ALL the other worries of our lives (kids, significant others, mortgages, careers, etc). Thank you so much for breaking down your formula for success…….I will be following your advice to shift my efforts in the gym and kitchen to get the results I need!

You look amazing! I'm 63 and do weight lifting 3 times a week. I'm petite with muscles..and feel fabulous!! Everyone can do this IT STARTS AND END WITH THE MIND...I CAN DO THIS!!!

A little info for anyone using a blender. Add hot water to your blender after use. Turn it on and it will clean most of the blender for you.

Exactly! I was thinking the same thing when she said about cleaning it. It’s so easy to clean! Add water a few drops of dish soap put the lid on and run it then just rinse it and I let mine air dry. It’s one of the reasons why I love it so much! So so easy! But can we talk about those shoulders? Fire!! You look fabulous!! And I’m loving this information! Thank you!

I'll be 62 this year, and I would advise anyone over the age of 50 to exercise with or without weights. I've been back in the gym for 6 years now, and I have literally no bad complaints about my progress and gains. So far everything has been a positive effect. Also all my gains are done without any type of supplement or any muscle enhancing product.

Great advice. I agree. Supplements are a waste of money imo. Muscle enhancing products? Haha. All we need is real food. Regular weight-bearing exercise, real food and sleep for rest and recovery. I’m 59, turning 60 this year. I’m Canadian living in a foreign country (Japan) that discriminates against foreigners, so can’t get a credit card which is the only acceptable payment here for a gym membership. So I’ve been out of training for 6 years now. But really want to return to weight training as soon as I can.

@@frankpaya690 So hypocritical. Without hesitation, I can say the Japanese are among the most racist people on earth. It comes with a predominantly monocultural society and the passive educational system. The brainwashing begins at birth. I’ve experienced much racism, discrimination, exploitation, bribery and even extortion here. I’ve learned Japan is an extremely controlled, rule-based, ultra-repressed, hierarchical society of followers. There are some positives, but the negatives become harder and harder to take. Japan will never change, even though their population is drastically declining. Can’t wait to get out and return to Canada.

@@davidalger5625 Hi David, thank you for the tip. I will look for an Anytime Fitness in my area. I had a membership at a gym in my area for about 4 years when I first arrived in Japan. They offered a ‘lifetime’ promotion of unlimited use for ¥5000/month. Then they decided they wanted to make more money, so doubled my membership fee to ¥10,000/month. This is the Japanese way. Since then, gyms only accept credit cards. I applied 2x and both times was rejected, even for a Rakuten card. I own a house with no debt, so figured I’d be considered low risk... haha. But, yes, I’m a foreigner. I will look for Anytime Fitness. Thank you.

@@ShikokuFoodForest I grew out of my weeb phase years ago, almost 30 and while I believe Japanese is a cool sounding language, I've given up my ambitions to learn it. I see no value in being fluent in Japanese in 10 years, only to be treated like a 3rd class citizen. Japanese people don't give foreigners a chance to be one of them, they think race is important, when really you figure they would want their culture to be adopted by other countries. I'm considering Spanish, just for the fact I can use it on a daily basis in America.

At 40, I entered a bodybuilding competition. No escaping it, I paid my fee, had the deadline, was committed. The amount of food I had to eat, to me, was such a HUGE struggle! I had been basically underfeeding myself, trying to live to a certain number. You're right; you just have to DO IT, and stop listening to all the programming we are subjected to about weight and numbers! To date myself, when I was a teen, the role models were Twiggy and Cher, and those impossibly, naturally thin people who were held up as the ultimate. I still struggle with eating at times, feeling so, so full when I've consumed only have my day's calories that I just don't want to eat any more. But at 62 I have decided to reclaim my body, my fitness, my strength, and know that food is most of the journey. There's no better feeling than feeling strong and at home in your own body!

I'm only 34, but I'm so happy I found your channel. My entire 20s were dedicated to long distance running and endurance training. While I did lift, because a smart runner knows the importance of resistance training, I wasn't super strong. In my 30s with kids, however, has made my body more made for strength training. Since February, I've cut out running, opting for walking as my cardio. I've also started eating at a slight surplus of 200 calories a day. My weight at the beginning was 5'7", 128, 27% body fat. Today, I'm at 150 and 22% body fat. You're totally right, that scale increase is super intimidating at first, especially for a former track athlete. However, seeing the body fat go down while the weight went up has been so satisfying. It's freeing when you build your metabolism and foundation up to a point where you're not constantly battling over macros and calorie counting flavor packets in water. 🤣🤣

TIP FOR CLEANING THE NINJA: when you finish pouring your protein shake in your cup, add water and soap into the ninja and blend it so that the cleaning can be easier. =)

I'm 57 and finding it hard to workout as hard as I used to. I scaled back a lot and I'm trying to figure out how much I can do without going overboard. If I workout to hard, I have no energy the next day. Starting back slow. I'm so glad to find someone who has succeeded in gaining muscle over 50

I retired from competitive power lifting about 20 years ago. Recently, in my mid 50s, started lifting again. These days I do much less volume of work, but carefully track my workouts for progress. I do not feel like a train wreck the next day, rather strong and energized. A consistent focused approach is the key!

I'm 50 and have spent the last two years losing 105 lbs. I'm now at a reasonable weight of 167 lbs. Last time I was this low was in middle school. Maintaining for the last few months has been easy with healthy eating and regular workouts, but I really want to build some muscle to fill out some of the loose skin. Getting over that mental hurdle of eating more and intentionally gaining a few pounds is proving to be super tough. Thank you so much for this video and the perspective you give.

I'm 45 and really getting into bodybuilding purely for fun. I really appreciate your honesty and candidness about this. I'm also afraid of the scale going up. I'm focusing right now on just how I look. I've had that initial fat loss and muscle gain at the same time. Now I want to lean out more and just have fun getting bigger! Thank you for this!!

You've talked and talked and talked, but have not described anything you did to put on the extra muscle. What exercises did you do? For how long did you work out? How many days a week did you work out? Did you do cardio as well as lifting weights? So, I've patiently listened to your story and have nothing to take away to help me put on muscle as a 77-year old man, who has been lifting weights for many years, but stopped completely during the pandemic. Having retired two years ago, I have resumed lifting weights regularly and work out with a trainer once a week, and have put back most of the muscle I lost, but not the strength, at least in most lifts. For example, I used to bench press 190 lbs, and now lift 155 lbs, etc. The only thing I can relate to in your story is that I have been upset that after losing 10 pounds over a three month period after going vegan, I have been upset to see I've gained three or four pounds in recent times. I'm thinking now most of it is muscle, but I'm not sure.

BUlking is a waste. JUst eat clean every day and youll get there without having to lean out. All the extra calories do is increase bodyfat. Like to eat too....find some greens or say rice cakes you like? And eat up if you have to.

I "liked" this just a few mins in, now at 11:23 and wishing KZbin had a "love" button I could press. Absolutely. More women need to hear this. I started eating for muscle a couple of months ago, and I friggin love it!! I'm the heaviest I've ever been, but also the most body confident I've ever been. I feel strong, my glutes are bigger, my thighs are bigger, I'm starting to get definition in my arms.

You are my role model.I'm 57 and have been trying to add muscle for almost 3 years but have been so afraid to trust the process. I've been eating at maintenance for very long time and struggle to eat more. Would feel too full and wouldn't push it. But after watching this video I think a big part has been fear of the scale going up. Thank you for sharing and the inspiration. I hope to add some muscle and get stronger like you!

I'm 51 ..just past my PT course..I was skipping breakfast not eating enough.. Don't worry about the scales when training ..I gained more on the scales but slimmer from weight training .. As muscle mass weighs more 💪 Sorted my macros and do 4 split sessions.. Hope this helps ..best of luck

Awesome!! I just turned 62 and went down to 163 pounds which was waaaaaay too light for me and people noticed or thought I was sick lol. I work as a Land Surveyor now for 32 year and I am on the go all day, every day and eating enough calories to build muscle is always a task! BTW, I took the weight loss personally and got back to the gym lifting weights as I have done for the majority of my life. In 1.5 years I gained back 15 pounds of muscle up to 178 but still way down from my heavy 203 before my big weight loss. I lift 4-6 days a week and use 3 workouts dividing up the pushing day, pulling day, and legs to keep workouts shorter and fresh. I have been through the highs and lows, but you just have to forge ahead! At 178 pounds I am 5'11" tall with 15% BF, 15.25" bicep, a 32 inch waist.......I can do 4 sets of pull-ups 10, 8,8, and 6 and 4 sets of dips 10- 16 reps with a 35lb plate hanging off a chain. Not everyday is a championship day, some days I struggle but when I get done I slap myself on the back that I made it through it!

I just now stumbled across your video, and it as gotten me all excited to lift once again! I am 65 years old, and I completely agree with you in the fact that you can build muscle at ANY age, because I have done exactly that! About 6 months ago I created multiple micro tears in the rotator cuff of my right arm when I was performing repetitive lifts....the pain from that was excruciating! I have had to completing lay off all upper body lifting now for 6 months while I've been healing doing physical therapy. Much to my sadness, my upper arms have atrophied, and all that I have built has diminished considerably. The discouragement has been unbelievably hard. I know there is such a thing as muscle memory, so I know I can regain it back quickly. Thank God my arm is almost healed, and I'll be lifting once gain..but this time much wiser! My question is: How do you protect yourself from such an injury? I thought I was doing everything right with my lifts, but sadly I was mistaken! I would love any guidance you can give me, so I can be successful once again with my lifting. I LOVE the powerful strength I feel from weight lifting. Thank you...you have given me much hope! You really are a Rockstar!

those tears in the rotator cuff are from EXCESS OXALATES in your DIET....so please check out OXALATES...they build up on the joints and causing the tearing in the muscles and ligaments around the joints....trust me I have been through it with BOTH shoulders.....once on a LOW OR NO OXALATE diet my pain is gone.....MDs said surgery but I refused and healed by getting rid of oxalates...

Awesome! I really like your approach to this. I am 54 and I've been training consistently now for about four years. I've been on and off most my life. I have gained a significant amount of muscle over the past couple of years. I have no interest in counting macros and no interest in cutting. I eat pretty clean (3-4 days a week) and just started bulking a bit. I've added more protein and some amino acids. Consequently I'm putting on even more muscle. Pretty happy with the results and not to brag but I look a lot better without a shirt on than most guys less than half my age. I had to purchase some new shirts because I've outgrown the large. My glutes have made a tremendous Improvement and have filled out my jeans nicely. Persistency and determination. I feel really good. Great video, thank you.

There are not many out there, if any at all, that talk about the mental struggles as thoroughly as you have (thought process and depth); struggles that are unique to each of us and how they can have a positive or negative impact in our journeys.

I’m happy that I found you. I’m 57 and have lifted dumbbells for 8 yrs. Kept my weight at 115, 5’3, BUT after Dec 2020, after having Covid I gained 17 lbs and all in my belly. All of my HRT hormone levels are perfect. I cannot get this belly fat off. Any weight lifting exercises for the abdominals would be appreciated. I tried keto for a couple of months and still couldn’t get the belly fat off. Thank you 💕

I found out belly fat can be an indicator of high cortisol. The rest of me is slim and toned. I had mine tested and it was way too high. I'm working to getting my stress level under control. One of the helpful snacks is dark chocolate so I have a square a day. Lot of info online.

i have been into bodybuilding for 25 years im gonna be 59 i just had back surgery 3 months ago due to a injury from working out so hard on the machines in the gym i cant wait to get back into it again im watching everything i worked for disappear looking at your arms reminds me of what i had i just found your site and happy i did jopefully it will get me up and running again and i had a personal trainer who was all about calories i hated when i gained weight so i did know carb lost weight it did work for me but hearing you talk i might change up when i can get back into weights again thank you for this lol its year old but helpful

Great presentation. What I didn't hear you say is how important it is to build muscle as you age to keep your your body functioning. It may not make you live longer but it will improve quality of life in the long term. You look great and need to keep up some level of weight conditioning for as long as many years as you can. You talked about incorporating protein into your diet which I agree is so important.

You're putting on muscle, not fat. Your jeans are fitting tighter as you said, because your glutes are growing. I've had the same experience with glutes, thighs, chest, arms and shoulder and I'm a guy. I'm in my late 50's too and have been working out religiously with free weights for the last 6 months and have put on significant muscle and can see in the mirror that my body has also lost a lot of fat. My overall weight has gone up slightly because muscle is twice as heavy for volume as fat is. I don't mess around with measuring calories and purposely eating more or less. I eat as before, sensibly, and making sure I don't eat too much junk. I'm well educated on foods and diet, so I just avoid too many carbs, though good wholegrain bread is my only real weakness. I also eat eggs in one form or another, every single day. This is working unbelievably well for me and can only guess where I'll be in another 6 months.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this!! THIS. Right here. Sounds EXACTLY what I'm going thru RIGHT NOW AND struggled with weight majority of My life, dropped 60 lbs and was on maintenance past 4 years. Now people are saying track ur calories shove more food into ur body when half the time I felt sick to my stomach eating so much.. .I'm not tracking my calories PERIOD when I've been so successful with my weight FINALLY. But now the problem is, since my late 50s....I'm now 60, is It ok WANT TO BUILD MUSCLE . I'm hearing stuff from all different sources and I think some is BS. I think your msg is just what I needed to hear today, right here, right now! Thank you a ZILLION times over for putting this out there!!

Interesting journey you're on. I'll be 62 this year. Being active, strong, and healthy has been a focus since after my 2 pregnancies (during which I gained alot of "baby" weight). Lost that weight a long time ago and have never looked back. I'm more active today than ever and do only things that bring me physical and psychological pleasure. I do hot yoga, long forest hikes, dance whenever possible, swim and play racket sports. I enjoy making and consuming fermented foods and drinks which works wonders for my gut health. Years ago I realized that my regular eating habits, without intending it to be...was mainly keto, and only eat when I'm actually hungry (which translates to intermittent fasting). I'm not strict about it nor do I worry about it. Never owned a scale or counted a calorie, nothing against that but I just have better ways to spend my time. The only place I've ever weighed myself is at the doctor's office. Don't care what I weigh, only care about how I feel. If anyone told me 40 years ago that I would love my body more today than at any other point in my life, I wouldn't have believed them.

Hey & hi, I have been worrying so much about the enormous ( seems to me & a couple of others,) muscle mass I have lost in the past 11 months that I blame mostly to having a bad run with first time covid. Went from 112 to 103 as of yesterday. Too ill to maintain the highly active lifestyle & has affected digestion. I am slowly on the mend & up until seeing my first video of your channel ( am about to subscribe, ) thought it would be impossible to try to even get it back. I read every comment & learned some more & it was also inspiring to hear others are also succeeding after being in more serious setbacks like myself. I admire your drive & determination despite fears very real in your mind. This is a such a great video that I just happened to come across. Not only could I relate to many of your expressions, especially the scale and the never-ending quest to keep fat off, but your whole journey of 6 months gave me so much encouragement. Many promise results in 6 weeks, and I don't feel that's realistic, either. I love your build - it's what I want for me - I'm 62 years old now. I have had a background in dance and in my 40's, I became a runner and after 10 years, started to suffer injuries. I "discovered" strength training through a personal trainer, and it opened my mind to a different view of health and strength. But it is so hard to break old habits with weight and the scale. At my stage, I want to train for strength and longevity, and I need to reprogram my mindset to do it long-term and do this because I want to. All of my life, I have restricted calories and watched the scale, so it has been hard to build muscle for me right now. Your tips were very helpful. Thanks for your vide. I'll be looking for more!

I am 56 and strength train. But I am struggling for years to build muscle density. Reason being, I don't eat in a calorie surplus. I have started but it's difficult because I feel full quickly. Your video has confirmed that I must push through and continue to eat more calories. The smoothies are a great idea. I am tired of walking in the gym and everyone stares at me because I am so lean. I want to build more muscle and feel confident when I walk in the gym, after all it is my happy place 😊

Thank you for this video, I am 47, have never been fat, but started to notice me dropping weight, highest 150 something lbs, as like you, I only ate when hungry and wouldn't eat anything when I got home in the evenings, which equated to intermittent fasting. Had the opposite of you in the gym with this woman constantly telling me I was getting small, who wants to hear that, when their clothes are already telling them and they are trying to gain weight. I have an athletic build, so I build muscle easily. But my calories in versus out weren't enough. Then I also started doing HITT rebounding in the mornings from January, which obviously caused me to drop more pounds. To top it off I was having crazy periods, heavy, long painful, bloating..... so for at least 10 days a month, I hardly ate as I either had nausea and vomiting or bloating so bad, it was painful to do anything. I stopped the gym, as I was wasting money, as during periods, I couldn't go. I started back exercising at home a month ago, I still do rebounding 2-3 times a week. I do body weight or dumbbell legs one day, upper body a next, started using creatine, after listening to a doc who speaks about Peri menopause and menopause issues. She said all women especially those at that stage could benefit from it. Also like you, I have started butter shakes at night with protein powder. I always used to have a shake but it was a fruit and yogurt shake with collagen during the day. In a month I have seen improvements in the size of my legs and arms, more so than when I was going to the gym. I plan to also keep this up for the next 6 months to see what other improvements I get, as I have a cruise planned for my birthday next year that I want my body to be totally transformed. I just need to tone up. I have always had cellulite in the legs that no gym work, yoga or anything seem to fix. But I have every confidence, I will see vast improvements with my current regimen. Aiming to look 30 at your age........

Hello Susan. I am 62 and I am from Mexico City. In February 2020 I passed through right hip replacement surgery, then Corona came, gyms closed and I began to rehab at home. I've been an athlete since 19 years old, practiced lots of sports like running marathons, tae kwon do, track & field, crossfit, boxing and of course bodybuilding. I have lots of questions to make you. One is related to muscle building. I was on 53 kilos before surgery, now I am 56.5 and as you said, my jeans dont fit so loose anymore like they used to. But yes! I've seen improvements on my legs and glutes. My right leg looked thinner after surgery. Now I've noticed a real improvement but still afraid of my fat percentage because all goes to my waist. I hope your answer and your suggestions. I also like to compete and I am planning to prepare for next 2022. Thank you so much!

You have taken a strong analytical approach to your health. Very refreshing and well said. The body blow in your video for me was "I don't want the scales to go up" . Wow, I didn't think that was such a big issue for me but obviously it is (was). The second thing you said was you wanted to be strong. That is a powerful statement and requires some discussion. A person can be strong with excess weight, thin with no muscle or somewhere in-between. If you are in competitive sports then that sport will dictate where you should be. For example being very lean and strong would be ideal for a runner. A mountain biker needs a crap load of calories and muscle if there are biking a lot of hills. They would have some excess weight and a lot of lower body muscle. For those that want to be healthy, highly mobile (flexible) then they need to be where you have arrived! Congratulations for taking care of yourself because you will be thanking yourself when you 10 years older!!! Believe me, I am in my 70s and you can still build muscle at my age. Your payback is not just your new body, but your new state of mind and abilities!!! All the best.

you really inspire me I'm a 51 year old male, I did weight training like 12 years ago for 3 years, but never really got good results in those 3 years, I was slim and athletic, BUT, I came bak to weight training 2 months ago, now a 51 year old and currently gaining muscle more than ever, I get comments about how I look bigger and muscular, I mean, ONLY 2 months, I continue to do intermittent fasting, and I have a gym at home now, I take supplements included creatine, Im thinking I'll need heavier weights! AND peanut buttter OMG! I snack on peanut butter and jelly, I just love that heavenly combination, I dont eat bread, I try to keep it in a strict moderation, Ive heard that you can build muscle and lose fat with a caloric deficit, but not that low, this is the third time I heard it from your video, thanks for the inspiration and information, you look great! You can build muscle on a calorie deficit if you get in enough protein for your body weight. Cannot do it indefinitely though.

I’m a 62 year old female. The one thing I wish you mentioned is how many grams of protein you eat. I will eat fish, but no other meat and struggle building more muscle which I think is because I don’t get enough protein. How much protein are you eating?

Thank you for your inspiration. I’ve been researching women over 50 and building muscle with bodybuilding. I’ve been doing weight lifting for years. Then got bored and did modified CrossFit for about 6 years. Then covid hit and gyms closed and I haven’t been back since. I’m 53 and work out at my small home gym for 5-6 days a week. Please share your workout routine. I’m reading that doing CrossFit at this age and in menopause is not good. Thoughts??

Crossfit has become much more adaptive to each individuals needs and goals. What you have been reading is a sweeping generalization that only factors in age when actually your medical and injury history, workout history, current conditioning level, genetics and belief systems are bigger factors, if you feel interested visit a few crossfit boxes to get a feel for what might work for you

Am 69, sportive and very active since 7. I don't lose muscles neither experience bone lost through aging like most older people. I still walking daily 2 hours, and IF 18/6 daily and doing machine at home, lifting weights and resistance workout. 5feet4 BMI 19 through decades. Never change I am very happy with the way I look, and I barely seen any doctor. Yes, we can be healthy, beautiful at any age, but we need to make it happen. Research online for tips and follow. I'm glad you mentioned that period of "rut" that you struggled through. I am going through something similar. I had so much energy in the beginning, but after a couple of months, I'm hitting a wall, and it feels like I'm going backwards in my workouts. My best guess is that our bodies are restructuring energy/calories to build muscle mass from increased exercise. I think if we can push through the routine, no matter how difficult, the body will adapt and regulate again. It is encouraging to hear that you powered through it and it did resolve itself and you feel great again. I will remind myself of this for the next few weeks to keep going, "get over the hump" and the rewards will be waiting on the other side. Thanks!

It's possible you are over training. I'm familiar with the training protocols of Dr. Doug McGuff. He's an expert in this area. He wrote a book titled "Body by Science" One thing Doug emphasizes is the importance of the recovery phase in building muscle. You can overdo it and slow your progress. Also, he is all about getting the most bang for the buck, so to speak, during your training sessions. He has quite a few videos here on KZbin. Believe me, he has the answers to all of your questions.

I can't wait to see the progress I make in the next few weeks. My energy levels bounced back up when I added red meat daily and much higher fat consumption. I burn a lot of energy from running, swimming, tennis and biking (activities I do for fun). My goal is to gain 10lbs of muscle and hopefully look as great and be as fit as Susan!

Congratulations! You set your mind to finding out what works for You and you have found it. Addressing the emotional side of your journey is paramount because that is where the problems start. Agree 100% you need to find ways to make it as easy as possible. I have come down from 260 to a muscular 240 in 3 months by simply prepping my (Six - 200gr.meals) And a 3am protein Shake. When 200gr becomes to much I will start shaving off some carbs or adjust my training. (Will see👀) Maybe both? But one of the two will work. You said it and I agree the mirror is your best gauge. Trust your choices and ignore the scale. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT INSPIRING POST 💕 I am a 67 yr. Old male with low testosterone and most if not all of the guys posting about building muscle are using PEDs You have demonstrated that its not all about Testosterone. 🙏

Suggestion a body composition scale. I am working on losing fat and obviously want to maintain muscle and bone. I thought I was taking in enough protein, but of my first 9 lbs weight loss, 2 lb were muscle. So I am here watching this, and also upped my protein. I am an older woman, and we don’t even utilize protein as well as we used to. So do not skimp! Also, the scale was very affordable, cheap even, on Amazon.

Well I’m someone who actually needs to lose weight actually because I am 5 foot one. I’m 150 pounds, so there’s no reason for my frame to have that much weight on me and I know that I have lost a lot of muscle even though I’ve been lifting weights, so I am frustrated and I don’t know what to do and no I have not been eating at a surplus But I’ve been here some days. I’ll eat a deficit and some days I need maintenance and some days I deleted the surplus so it’s not like it consistent. I don’t guess but I was trying to do keto there for a while to try to lose weight but it made me gain weight and I actually just in one year trying to keto three times I gained weight, and when I looked at my fit index I went for like 23% fat to 37% fat in a year and that was trying to eat right angles right? I don’t know what I’m doing and I’m frustrated and I’m 54 years old.

Thank you for the video. Is paying attention to the scale really necessary? With the workouts and clean diet you aren’t gaining fat. I can see changes in the mirror and how I feel. I’m struggling to eat enough. I’ve always leaned towards a veggie diet and now that I’m older my appetite is lower. I started protein shakes after training and feel so heavy after. Im keeping track of my protein intake. I’m 57 and trying to gain muscle.

Just discovered your videos. I definitely would like to build some muscles and stay strong. I have insulin resistance and so must watch what I eat. I would like to gain some weight also. I lost my weight on a low carb diet to reverse prediabetes. Now weight is a mere 100 lbs at five feet tall and 69 yo. Never took pictures when I started doing strength training at home but I think I gained some girth in my biceps. They definitely look a bit bigger.

Always been 122lbs at 5'8" always been active but noticing that soft squishy appearance in my legs etc. Was told years ago i have almost zero testosterone, very low estradiol , take thyroid meds for hypothyroidism for 20 years. Do you think good muscle gain is possible without taking more hormone replacement meds?

I have never tracked and feel overwhelmed just thinking about it. I'm 65 and have been losing muscle steadily for the last 10 yrs because of an illness. I used to be in super great shape up until then. I I now have knee problems. Probably because of loss of muscle. I will be bingeing your channel to educate myself. I am in shock that you look like that after 6 months! I am jealous. I would love to look half that good. I have to be honest with myself…I don’t want it bad enough or I could make it happen. I am almost 62, retired, and lift small weights in order to tone my arms for strength and looks. I did it faithfully for 2 months (I know that isn’t long). So far it has not proven too effective as my arms are still flabby. I’m thin and my muscle itself looks somewhat defined but the saggy arm syndrome keeps me very reserved & humbled. Your passion is inspiring! Thank you. My son lifts and he always tells me, “ You don’t want it bad enough mom, or you would make it happen.” He’s right. He showed me things to do but I’ve gotta do it! Blessings to you!
