Is that a 14 foot tall cage with 20 foot poles buried 5 feet, so 5 foot of pole exposed? 1/4" galvanized steel? What guage of guide wires did you use? A simple bill of material would be ideal. Thanks for the content!

How deep are the poles set in the ground?

Thanks for the comment! Usually with 6-5/8" poles you are going to be 5ft in the ground, with an approx 36" diameter depending on local soil conditions. Cheers! -Jake S.

Are the poles cemented in the ground or just dirt put back in around them? Also, can you explain the bridge suspension kit?

@@pkbase Correct, cemented in-ground at approx 5ft depth. The bridge suspension kit adds support to cable sag - it is not required step if your cables are able to be fully tensioned and the poles are able to take that force. 2:54 shows how he has them set up to support the outside and middle support cables. -Jake S.

@@Practicesports I went with wooden utility poles instead of metal poles (maybe a mistake) so they can’t take the same tension as metal poles so I’m figuring out how to better brace and keep the net from sagging.

@@pkbase You can try to offset the tension by building a kicker assembly behind the poles. It could be built like our collegiate model kicker assembly if you check our website. Or could even just be a cable tensioned off the back of the posting to offset the tension running in the opposite direction. We don't sell wooden poles for this purpose (batting cages), so this is just me brainstorming for you. Bets of luck! - Jake S.

*Hard to believe with so much technology nobody has identified or tried to come up with a solution of a pain in the neck kind of problem with outdoor batting cages?* *And that is, to build a simple and EASY mechanism to lift up the net after the play. There is a millions year old problem of squirrels and other rodents chewing holes on the bottom of the net where it meets the ground. People have to painstaking use carabines to manually hookd and lift of the bottom of the net and hang it up so that these pesky rodent traffic could roam free under the net, when the cage is not in use.* I had put a 70 feet long batting cage and lost all interest and appetite after it continuously got holes in the bottom chewed in by squirrels.
